POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I don't write a lot. If I feel something strong enough, you'll eventually read it.
Isolated
My inbox is empty
The phone never rings
No knocks on my door
No letters for me
7 days a week
Spent in solitude
My heart beats weaker
With each lonely moon
And where are you?
My many friends
Do you feel my pain?
Do you understand?
You don't.
You can't.
You never will.
So how can you judge
My desire to kill?
The phone never rings
No knocks on my door
No letters for me
7 days a week
Spent in solitude
My heart beats weaker
With each lonely moon
And where are you?
My many friends
Do you feel my pain?
Do you understand?
You don't.
You can't.
You never will.
So how can you judge
My desire to kill?

Survival
Walk on the wilder side,
It's the jungle of life.
They know you're top dog,
But the lions still bite.
You may hold a blade,
But these trees won't fall.
So hack it to a glade,
they'll grow back just as tall.
And try as you might,
to keep it akindle,
In the cold dark night,
Your fire will dwindle.
Now daylight trickles,
Over the sweet, shiny dew,
That dampens your figure,
As it's divided by wolves.
It's the jungle of life.
They know you're top dog,
But the lions still bite.
You may hold a blade,
But these trees won't fall.
So hack it to a glade,
they'll grow back just as tall.
And try as you might,
to keep it akindle,
In the cold dark night,
Your fire will dwindle.
Now daylight trickles,
Over the sweet, shiny dew,
That dampens your figure,
As it's divided by wolves.

Ally
Damn it all.
For what you are.
You let me fall,
From the stars.
You dragged my heart,
Straight through fire.
But my lips wouldn't part,
To call you a liar.
And when you sang,
Your sweet tune,
When the phone rang,
No sound came through.
No I love yous,
Just goodbyes.
I was such a fool,
To believe your lies.
For what you are.
You let me fall,
From the stars.
You dragged my heart,
Straight through fire.
But my lips wouldn't part,
To call you a liar.
And when you sang,

Escape
Slipping from my chains, I hit the floor.
I burst into the hall and lose my way.
I scan the corridor and break the door.
And see white suits with guns and rays.
They ease closer, calm in fact.
They know that I'm closed off.
There's an elevator- in the back,
I'll never make it that far.
I back up to the door, but it's already locked.
I look for another way out, there's one.
I'm just one man, this battle can't be fought.
So I leap through the window in the front.
I cut myself on the jagged glass,
But...

Us
I know we're alone, but I strung up the curtains.
They surround my bed and the darkness hides,
Our carnal adventures and explorations,
And when we're done there are tears in our eyes.
I look at you, and you at I.
It was so much fun to go at it like that.
In this moment I could happily die,
My heart filled with your love and intact.
I put an arm around you, and pull you to me.
As our bodies press you nuzzle my neck,
In this moment of innocence after the deed,
Neither of us minds being covered in sweat.
Letting go of the other...

Bullets
One bullet exits, straight for me-
I didn't deserve that busted knee.
The second one only grazes by-
I just barely kept my eye.
The third one strikes home, right in the heart-
Well.. maybe it didnt quite hit the mark.
The fourth shot is nearly fatal-
But landed right above my naval.
I see the gun raised, blood in my eyes,
Another muzzle flash, but somebody heard my cries!
The sixth shot rings, and I know it's done.
When the man came down with a heavy thud.
And now I'm waiting for emergency stitching,
Trying...

Heart
The heat is high in the desert skies, I want to close my bloodshot eyes.
I had stared him down and sized him up, told myself 'he ain't so tough.'
But he matched my strength blow for blow, and as quick as I am, he wasn't so slow.
But I dare not unsheathe my sword, I only use it as a last resort.
There's no way I can afford to rest,
with one wrong step between me & death.
He's in front of me now- to move so fast! I fall back, startled, and hear a splash.
I sink below the ocean surface, my vision too blurred to try and focus.

You and I
You're going to die, young and alone.
So be it, who'll miss me when I'm gone?
You've forsaken all moral standards.
Any kindness is wasted on these bastards.
Who are you when it's dark outside?
What are you to judge my life?
What right have you to tell me I'm wrong? I want the same thing as anyone.
You lie to yourself expertly,
you hide behind a veil of sheets,
black as you wish you could make your heart, but that's not who you really are.
You assume you know me so damn well, but you and I are going to Hell.
I...

My Dear Light
Dear light outside my window..
WHY DO YOU FLICKER AND DIE
Just when you're the only light in my life.
Why do you get so close, that the curtains catch flame,
Then leave me as cold as before you came
So near the little room, that houses what I am,
To stir up my world and shake the ground on which I stand?!
WHERE ARE YOU NOW?!
Now that I call out for the joy that I can only find in you
No sooner does the lament leave my mouth,
Do you flicker in the distance to remind me that you're still out there, and you're through.
THROUGH being...

Promises
Where to turn to bring my aching heart solace.
How it reaches out for the warmth of more lies.
Who knew that human beings could be so soulless?
Surely not I, as evidenced by wet and stinging eyes.
Belief in a fantasy all too common held,
By the weak of will who want nothing less,
Than to fall for a notion that is only a candied hell,
Is why so many nights I am unable to rest.
Where are you now, dearest?
How long must I wait?
What of the time, we had together?
Didn't we call it fate?
What of the person I had by my side,
Any other...

I'm not alone.
When I need a hand
And maybe reassurance,
You give me all you can,
I honestly can't buy better friends.
You're there when I need the answer to number 26
Or have a bad day because of some jerk,
There even when I'm depressed, or being dick.
That's how people like you give my life worth.
I don't know how I'd live without any of you,
Especially a certain couple I hold in high regard,
With all that you've helped get me through,
Losing any of you would be hard.
But I don't have to worry about ever being alone.
Sometimes there may be...
