crying in the ice cream aisle
Teeth digging into my lip
White knuckling the cart
The gelato and ice cream in the fridge
Blurring into swirling color splotches
I cannot let the tears fall here... I can't
So I find myself looking at the dirty ceiling
As if some savior can be found there
Yet the tears cannot help but fall as tears do
On a Sunday afternoon in a grocery store

Clothes are the best armor
The layers between you and the world
You can almost control how people think
With all the ways you can change yourself
I wear what I wear to get the attention I need
What I crave so deeply are those eyes on me
It's a power trip to know all the tips and tricks
People truly cannot help themselves
Eyes always go to the sound of heels

No, no, don't get me wrong
I am intense as intense can be
As intense as when thunder and lightning play together
As intense as that first taste of a really good, hot meal
As intense as the taste of pure sugar and caffeine
I am intense and I am loved for my nature

There's something so fucking hollow
In knowing you won't be at the top
Of my message lists anywhere anymore
That I'll never share with you again
No videos, no memes, and no thoughts
Cutting you out of me will take some time
I won't ruminate about you thinking of me
The possibility that maybe you'll miss me
Just enough to show up at my door
We both know you would never do that
You have never been afraid to lose me
And now I am gone from your presence
How long until your new relationship breaks?
Because of the broken parts in...

You're so cold...so cold
Empty and hard inside
No one can touch your heart

I'm breaking bonds apart with my hands
Ripping this rot out from around my heart
Loving you was never a happy feeling
Wretched and unrequited... Only misery
I found myself trembling, shaking so hard
My phone fell from my fingers onto the bed
I've never blocked you before this moment
But then again you have never chosen me
Kissing me meant nothing to you... Never did
I'll never be anything more than an er
Patching up and putting together your heart
Only for you to leave and find someone better
But you will never find something...

I'd forgotten how perfect your lips felt
Pressed against mine, against my neck, my cheek
I'd bite them simply to make sure they're real
And not a ghost of a memory trapped in my head
Those hands that have haunted me touch me
With what I can only describe as glee
From ankle... to knee... to thigh... to hip
An exploring path as if you're making sure I'm real

People don't see the sadness
Hidden within this rage of mine
Glass heart glowing white hot in the flame
Spinning just to keep myself upright
Behind this mental wall of flame and anger
