Think of You
I’m alive, what a weird thing that is
Wonder why I have to experience things tragic
Don’t remember ever asking “can you see if I can manage?”
Or being asked to struggle through the pain and the damage
Guess I’m here regardless so I guess I’ll do my best
Guess the only way to live is see this as a test
Guess I could compare my thoughts to others’ of success
Guess I best prepare myself for when I’m gonna rest
anxiety and stress, they’re never far away
The biggest hurdles that I have to make it past each day
I want to live in peace...

We are all god and the devil the same
Inside and out, by nature and name
Nothing but pawns in our own little game
Perspective and image through lenses and frame
The art of humanity, ageless and old
Everyday new, each moment been told
Warmth of our hearts so demonstrably cold
Buy into lies by the truth we were sold
Ends of the spectrum and all in between
Nothing but DNA strands at the seam
Hate to be loved, so bitter and sweet
Taking our share as we give into greed
Nothing but art in the eye of the mind

I had a realisation today
Just because you’re gone don’t mean you went away
Your final resting place could not contain your burning flame
And now I feel you every single day
I laughed it off before
“That’s just insane” I thought
But since I saw the signs
I don’t think that anymore
Your daughter’s daughter taught me much about what’s out that door
But your silent guidance taught me even more
I never felt your warmth before you had to leave
But now I pay attention to your whispers in the breeze
The rustle of the leaves...

Cold to the touch
Shoulders, holding you up
Weight of the world
Close to folding you up
Told: you aren’t enough
Sold a bolder bluff
Soldier on, roll up a blunt and puff
Hold a hope for love
Show that you can cope with the rough
Unload the boulders off
The load is dropped
The stones are gone
Your soul is longing for the stronger stuff
Can’t break the cuffs
Can’t make this up
You gave every last drop
