Tattooed Roses
On the margin of some pages
Heart felt feelings
Exclamations
Written large
Joy or sorrow
Wonder
Or most precious
Love
Evoked by now sacred passage
Emblem red
The petals bedewed
Dancing among thorns
Fragrant rose
Beauty that wounds
Innocence lost
In sweetness
But the sweet of the apple
Not so sweet by half as your lips
And I lost in your kiss
As tides o'rflow
And fire devours
I am by love consumed
What is that bright and constant light

The all of you
I wanted much too selfishly

In such a small world
You became everything
My hopes and dreams
Though I faded from view

There are pictures I wanted to take of you
Poses of pictures I wanted to paint
Not pictures of beauty in a fading light
But paintings of beauty in this time of our life
I could paint you every day
Pour my heart and talent into bringing you to life
So that maybe you'd believe in the beauty that I see

Prayer
I truly prayed for you today
My heart on its knees
Not that you would change
Not that I would remain
But that you could be who you needed to be
That you would find strength and peace
In your weakness and anxiety
That you would find love
Self love
Acceptance
Of yourself
For who you are
Until then all you chase
Each man you meet
Will simply be the wisp of dreams
Like me
I prayed for you today
Every positive thought and hope
Not for me ...

Things don't have to hurt like they used to
But they do
I let the pain set in
The deep of missing you
Of moments that were never enough
In lives that couldn't change
Breathe
The freedom that slipped away
Like time
I remember that certain look in your eyes
The fill of your jeans
The sway
Everything about you captured me
And I'm still not free
Echoed words
Memories
All the feelings remain
But they do
I let the pain set in
The deep of missing you

In lives that couldn't change

Your colors to unfurl
The veil falling
Would your fingers brush my cheek til I awake
Your eyes watching til the dust of dreams left mine
You're a distance to close
Yet I cannot hold you
Cannot tell you
The words you must already know
As I, with no magic in me
Stand as near as you want
And as far away as you need

What is it about a woman
Which stirs a man's desire
I dream
I imagine
More than I should say
And what are tellings
I wish the world was a different place
I wonder how you kiss
How you would taste
Would their sweetness flow
Like your words
Spilling, wave after wave
Fierce, determined
Passionate in your desires
I can only imagine
My kisses tracing the art of you
The ink of your story
Gently carassing every scar

Twas words that captured me
How long ago now I don't know
Always feeling in you
Pieces of me
Word play sometimes goes that way
Clever ruminations
The abstract
Sometimes almost conjurings
I could feel and almost see
Woven layer on layer
Joys and pains
Tethered escapes
Though fiercely longed for
You remained
The silences of distance too
Times away, elsewhere gathering

I don't believe in running away
But in the crush I'm fading

Before nights, mists, the roiling clouds
The seas untold depth and rolling breadth
Storms unleashed, smiting, thunder and lightning
I know the rains that pelt
And lands parched 'neath searing sun
The chaos of days
Belying plans I've made
All this mine as I wander far from home
A sojourner, stranger
A pilgrim here
Self, dreams, visions I once hoped to be
A future day eluding me
Trapped in loyalty to vows foolish made ...

I sit beyond you somehow
Into a staring distance you cannot see
Colors fade to black and white
Though judgments are washed away
Seen through a second sight
Lost in the unfeeling of the day
For there's what is
And there's what is seen
The transcending distance covers me
In feelingless thought
Primal upwelling of truth admidst lies
What is there in the half light which speaks
There is a place there, disengaged
The focus, the loci,
Perhaps the true touchstone of the soul
Where darkness and light become...

Constellates stars

Awake entwined with you
