POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Spoken word artist.
Hidden
I've fallen through the cracks of his soul
And I've been trying to claw my way out through the debris left by her.
The depths of his hurt
Lie in a paradigm of
Unanswered texts.
Nights out with exes.
All of which she's done
Has made you broken in more places than one.
She obliterated your self esteem
Castrated your heart
Eviscerated your faith in women
Left you fragments of a man
Searching.
Never to be found.
The pieces of you that remain
Are unrecognizable to self.
I can't begin to explain why I've stayed ...

Smoke
The smoke that surrounds our relationship,
Creates a challenge to trust our bond.
I no longer see you
But can make out a silhouette of what used to be
We were fine before they knew about us
The lucidity compromised
From salacious situations
insensitive interactions,
I lost you to a breach I never saw coming.
I let down my guard
Believing you could never hurt me
Because love should've kept you honest.
I'm left to question if any of it was real.
Perhaps I was the current piece in your game of Tetris

Sip my essence like chicken noodle soup
Then devour me
Give me a sound tongue thrashing
Awakening parts of me
That's been in slumber.
Breathing is secondary
Bring me to the edge of collapsing
Shattering
A million drops in your mouth
Hydration your body needs.
Enter me forcefully
Slowly
Meticulously
Stroke me like one treats fine china
My opening welcomes your craftsmanship
I was made for you.
To use me
Taste me
Enjoy me
Your personal buffet
So please indulge
This is all you can eat

Embassy Suites
I spotted him across the room.
Tonight he would be my conquest.
I slowly made my way to where he was seated.
Ignited inchoate conversation
"how are you's"
Morphed into "meet me in room 413"
He swallowed my vulgarity with ease.
I let my scent leave a trail of yearning
Straight to his groin.
relished in his weakness for me
Anticipated strength knocking me off axis.
Left hotel door slightly ajar
I undressed.
Meticulously removed my undergarments
As he walked in the room.
Our passion filled the air ...

Contradiction
He lavished in pieces of me
Adored the shards callously neglected by others before him.
I stared in his eyes trying to understand why
He chose me.
Innocent hellos led to sleepovers
And suddenly I couldn't get over the intimacy we shared.
On the outside, he knew I was married
But the way he looked into me
Resulted in hunger too strong
A flame incited
I was engulfed
Didn't run away
I chose to stay.
He studied me
could see despondence through forced smiles
Hidden desire in the flicker of my eyes
Noticed the thirst formed...

Freedom
Admission of love was supposed to free us but it kept us in shackles. Chained to the fear. Locked in possibility of hurt. We didn't intend to figure out the combination. Maybe we hated the vulnerability. Maybe we couldn't deal with how overwhelmed we felt. How we found it hard to lose control. The feeling of being suspended in the air reminded us, this was not security. It was escape. A temporary relief that we never should have blurred. How bated breath begets anxiety resulting in unfounded conclusion.
To stop loving you is the equivalent of asking my heart to stop beating. I am...
