POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Mirror
She loved him the way
we do all things
that mirror our broken
past
Feverishly, and desperately
hoping that
this time the ending
will be different
we do all things
that mirror our broken
past
Feverishly, and desperately
hoping that
this time the ending
will be different

Delicate Dance (Pt 2)
I've learned
to appreciate
this delicate dance
instead of worrying
about when the music will
stop
or if my partner is going
to step on my toes
to appreciate
this delicate dance
instead of worrying
about when the music will
stop
or if my partner is going
to step on my toes

Delicate Dance (Pt 1)
This delicate
dance
we do, touching
the word “love”
with our toes, letting it
graze past our knuckles, breathe
gently on our skin, whisper
as it moves
Trying it on
for size, letting our
mouths, our
tongues taste it, seeing
how it feels as it
describes everything else
around us
This beautiful little
dance, scooping up
Love and letting it
trickle off our palms, watching
just how close to the
line we’ll go, seeing
how many times more I can
say,
“You’re
amazing,”...

Siren
She sang the most
beautiful song she knew
from her kitchen – as
she cleaned dinner plates and
saucepans; sang a melody that
made her soul ache, sang with
all her heart – sang the way
her husband would once
coax her to sing
when they were
younger, to sing
with less trepidation and more
soul
She imagined her husband
watching her, listening to
her from his spot
in the living room, hearing her
sing her notes, the rise and
fall, the verse, the chorus, the
bridge
