He enters through heavy iron gates stoops low balancing on strong legs as he plucks Columbine from clepsydras marble
channels

Columbine, overgrown in shades
of pink and darkened mauve
Drinks,
drops of clear water that drip
off white marble channels
Stepping through heavy iron gates
visitor, tall and lean arrives early
soft cloth , hangs
from his belt,
He stoops low, balancing himself
on strong legs as he wipes clean,
a window, in which to view,
magnificent windings of ancient clepsydra.
