Loneliness
Loneliness
My loneliness was killing me
But I found a working solution
Killing others really works
I keep them alive and captive
In the cellar for a few days
They keep me company
In all manner of ways
They extinguish my loneliness
Then slowly and painfully
I torture then kill them
My loneliness disappears
Of course when it re-appears
I capture yet another victim
With murderous intent
You are never alone

It is that solitary surviving cup
from a set decades ago
and that one occupied spot
on a long bench in the park.
It is the cold empty feeling
felt in a crowded room
or that bittersweet moment
that only you feel it's mark.
It is the silence that deafens
the happy exchange of others
or the unsaid conversations
of an unaccompanied remark.
They are the ever present
enveloping invisible cloak
and the continual companion
throughout the light and dark.
