my Chunkaboo…
she’s special
a bit round, this is true
but cuddly…so squishy
my velveteen baby
each morning
guarding me as I shower
following me as I dress
taking out any spiders
foolish enough
to enter her reach
at night
greeting me at the door
smiling, I swear
patiently waiting
for me to go to bed
where she will curl
by my side
warm and contented
all is right in her world

Alpha

the alpha in my house
is the queen
of her domain

directing
and demanding
all she is due
making sure everyone
satisfies
in meeting her needs

keeping one and all
carefully in line
ever ready
to discipline
though usually
she is fair

unafraid
to voice an opinion
of sudden disapproval
but equally inclined
to reward
when pleased

I pride myself
on keeping order
in my home
but the one
I shamefully confess
who claims the alpha role
is definitely
Bella...
the cat

Children of Stardust

My cats are made of stardust,
destination of exploding suns.
Ambassadors of the big bang,
children of God's space soup,
A place to be, stellar debris,
felines of the macrocosm,
I'd have no other truth be told,
companions on the blue marble.

Show me how to best relate,
with all colors living as one.
Black and white, tan and brown,
each an equal in its own right.
There are queens in the mix,
still yet equals in God's face
with different furs on each,
and no need to put on more

Consider odds that would bring
astronomical creations
of the long past big bang
as residents now in my lap.
I love these furry aliens,
my lovely children of stardust.
Teach me the similar in this place,
traced back to our starry origins.

Lucky

My lucky
I owe you for
Your immense
Friendship.

The truth,
You saved me from
The outside world.
Excited.

Poodle mix
Supplemental to my life
Remain a force
For years to come.

Dining for two
My little white hope
More beautiful than
Any coast & ocean
Biking trails.

A pet lover I'm called.

Mimie looked a lot like this

Mimie

sores spitting up on her bare back
parasites clinging to the last hair
on her droopy ears
little bald chubby puppy
sitting forlornly by the country road

did she lost her mom
to the roaring man-made monster
on the road
or was she thrown away
by fragrant pretty mistress or master

she wagged her pointy bare tail
as I stopped and said hello
and closed her eyes in relief
when I wrapped her in a towel
much to my then beloved's chagrin

howling in baths
crying, wrapped in medical poultice
she clung to me
tears in her eyes, smiles in her ears
until she could stand sturdy
she claimed my lap most evening

grew she did with much love
beautiful fluffy fur,
her tail a fringe
her eyes were clear
my pretty Mimie Girl

she found a mate
and had many puppies
whom she loved until they left
for other homes
to be loved by other masters

I knew she wished
we could keep all her children
and I wished with her too
most evening we sat together
in silent reverie

when my beloved left
for someone prettier than me
Mimie sat with me patiently
as I ranted and raved
wallowing in my silly tears

She was always there
to say goodbye when I left
in the morning
and hello when I came home
at night

She is gone now
to the heavens that dogs go to
I hope to see her someday
and hear her joyous bark again
and look into her deep brown eyes.

Let me be your fantasy

Running with you at the park
listening to the song
“Let me be your fantasy”,
your ears moving up and down
your smile taking away all my fears
your look is giving me strength
making me forget
the past, the present and the future.

There is no cat, no dog, no human being
that will not want to be with you
the nights end with a shiny woof of you
the days start with a yearn of you.

Your only feeling is the feeling of love
even if you don’t read books
even if you don’t know how to write
you are a high class poet
you are the muse and the tiny word
that deletes the mistakes of my energy.

It’s your tail that gives the orders
it’s your tongue that gives the rhythm
l e t  m e  b e  y o u r  f a n t a s y
when things are getting blurred,
l e t  m e  b e  y o u r  f a n t a s y
when you’ll be gone for ever
and I promise you
I will be your best one
as you are for me all these years,
l e t  m e  b e  y o u r  f a n t a s y
to make me feel that I deserve
to be beloved and feel involved
to every quick run of a slow motion life.
