What?

I sit and question what, what words, of company, echo in my ears
and what, what words
of alchemy are listed in your wicked fears of our love?
Because tonight, tonight the stars will fall
and we will crumble to the sea and I'll be pondering why I used what
not which.

Younger

An old school photograph, so much younger then.
Multi-colored sweatpants, what was I thinking?
I wish I had my hair cut more often.
For all that embarrassment, what kills me the most
was my blissful unawareness, my naivety.
I was so much younger then.

Riding The Bus

Clarity perks then sighs at the sight of my '69 Mustang
childhood dream from the window - gleaming, for sale, in the sunlight;
it summons my core, my inner lust for heat and tarmac steaming summer rain.
The roar, the cruise, the rev, the freedom, sand or dirt or snow...
I get off at 53rd where the ATM delivers its news:
Tomorrow, I won't be riding the bus.

"Made"

Made:

Bitterness, and distasteful humor silence my laughs
Skeletons in the closet knock at me, forever trying to keep them quiet I bang right back
The devils grip slowly overtook this innocent adolescent mind
Making for a delicate forceful possession, I let him crawl right inside
Beyond all these previous transgressions, it begs one question...
What has life "made" you?

Pallbearers

Ready to march past the assembled rows
Seried ranks of friends and family
Tugging at collars and ties
Buffing shoes, cleaning shirts
All is ready all is calm
Now where's the damn body?

             rocket rainbow
bellyful's of butterfly flitted and fluttered
the count down begins in earnest
major tom stares into shining dials
as thrusters bring a welcome g-force
the flame mixed with the drizzle rain
creates a huge rocket rainbow

Kindred Spirit

I look up to the sky
Watching your shadow roll by
I wonder if you see me
Watching you live wild and free
Beautiful bird, spirit so true,
Oh, how I wish I could join you.

Ice

Frozen images holding frozen faces
Coldness and stillness in time
A place to store the treasured things
And to give the rest the cold shoulder
Ice everywhere amongst the frosty plains
Frozen tundra of comfort and memories

Pineapples' Velocity
Blunt Force Trauma.  Subdural hematoma.
She heard it day in, day out.
For once she wanted some playtime
to measure pineapples' velocities
as they impacted bladed implements of varying sizes.

I love My Shoes

tattered
holed
weatherbeaten,
lucky old souls.

Caked in dirt from Africa to Sevilla

authentic.

Fishing on the bay.
The children laugh at the dead skin
falling into my beer.
A beast silently waits underneath my dingy.
My skin bleeds from the sandpaper of a shark,
and the water burns me with itīs reflected saber
