Spiraling in madness
An idea for sacrifice
To offer onto altars
For my chosen God
Morsels delectable
Meaty and divine
Choices are limited
Why can't I find
Proper offerings?
Idols sculpted nightly
Reflecting sacrifice
Cast out discarded
In reverent wastes
Lesson lacerations
Are repercussions
For my utmost failure
My damnation
For my shortcomings
The hiss of a deity
The claws reprimand
Lowly servant
Your will, my command
Sacraments
Made in bonded time
When man needs a god
To feel complete
Offerings laid on plates
Tuna, beef, sacrifice
Poultry perfectly
Season to purrfection
Feline salivation
Leads to salvation
I offer something more
Some Temptations
Will that be enough?
The hiss of a deity
The claws reprimand
Lowly servant
Your will, my command

Sweet Jeremy
With so much love in your eyes
But then gentle eyes rarely tells lies
How sweet his behavior, how kind he was
I loved my Jeremy, he was my best friend because
Into his ear I would whisper all of my hidden secrets
He loved me in spite of the fact he knew of all my dark spirits
He listened to me ramble, even cuddled me more
He'd just stand there waiting by the screen door
I loved my Jeremy with all of my heart
But some dumb dog ripped my Jeremy apart
They ripped his throat out and chewed off his baby ears
How did my family not hear his scared desperate noises of fear?
I'd hunt down the dog who killed my baby
Maybe that would bring back a bit of my happy
But for now I shall curl up in a ball and cry
Why, my baby Jeremy, why'd you have to die?

Thank you all for these delightful entries! I especially enjoyed Kate's because of the picture it painted not only of "Fat Bastard" and their relationship but I got a great feel for her home ... Beautiful. snugglebuck and hardallover - great humorous pieces. Having spent time on my grandmother's small farm I can appreciate the appeal (and taste) of practical pets; and I've had (and have) my share of pet rocks. Very low maintenance critters, and they make for great attack animals when thrown.
