Rain Rain Come Again Contest

poet Anonymous

Palpable

thunder speaks against my sky

a promise of raindrops
and the need
to deeply breathe unborn algorithms.

balm mists subtly around my shoulders
soulful origami of idlewild sophistication
an endless territory;

liminal waters whisper...
murmurs our agonized grumbling desires...

love like rain falling softly
inside the majesty of twin flames
as skin slips...burning summer moon

my paramour palpably unquiet.

rain- [a painted cascade]

it's raining outside-
and I'm standing on the front porch. just out of reach
watching the water cascade onto the grass
a flood of tears sent from the stars.
I wonder- the sadness they must've seen

and I look at my empty glass. resin of regret- I can still smell it
breathe deep. the stars have nothing on me
-

I've grown tired of this. this waiting-pacing abandoned corridors
living a life of broken dreams/ and minimum wage.
futility- awake to the grind. and hope there's something left tonight

-I washed away a painting yesterday. of a sky- red and orange
just to watch beauty fade. to create from a masterpiece- chaos
and I ran my fingers through the water running down.
the paint was crying- for it's meaning in life was gone
and I laughed.
.this life is nothing but what we make it.
and I've made it hopeless

daunting. are the shadows of this place- this old, familiar place
with a pseudodream. an empty heart. and a pocket once full of hope

the silence lies to me.
-

unprepared and served to the masses. I'd rather dig a hole into my heart
maybe I could see a new life- behind the illusion of emotion
change the channel and stop to watch the static. it's so intoxicating
I'd die. but the ratings wouldn't be good enough.

my hands hurt, and my knuckles are worn
I could have anything I want. within reason- and reason never was
a good friend of mine

I punctured my brain with a bullet of silk.
my lonliness is the only friend that will never run out on me
and my apathy is the only monster that will tear me apart
the soft whispers of another empty promise- tease me
taunt me- take:me:away from here.

-
I ripped the wings from a butterfly. just the other day
and watched it die.

and I'm watching the rain wash away the night.
the fireflies dancing on my tongue- twisting in the smoke
and I put my hand under the falling sky
waiting to see. if my paint will run- if my meaning will be wiped clean
and an empty canvas will be left in my wake

awake. again- at a little past midnight. sleep never comes easy anymore
and the bed is always so cold.

and being alone when the world ends- at that moment just before sleep
when reality isn't real. and dreams don't really matter
life is a myth- and these tears
they're acidic.

-
1am
another glass. and I can't sleep.

I'm from (and currently in) the state of Texas in the U.S.A. My wife has been a
movie fanatic her entire life. She earns her living writing about them and because
of this I have seen zillions of movies (she, of course, has seen a zillion-zillion).
She discovered Satyajit Ray's works (and I through her) because one of Japan's most
prominent film directors Akira Kurosawa (she considers him a god) said of Ray:
(went and looked this up cause I barely remembered it) "Not to have seen the cinema
of Ray means existing in the world without seeing the sun or the moon." Well, after
hearing this, she made a point of watching his films where she could (this was kinda
hard in the old days) and came to thoroughly agree with Kurosawa (as did I).

I looked up Hrithik Roshan... I wish I was a tenth as handsome.

So kind and generous words from you Ray. Don't doubt your handsomeness as you are such an artist and when I meant you comparing with Hritik, forget about his looks...he is a skillful artist like you and a kind good man.
Thanks for sharing all your story. I am glad because I am a mad cinebuff. Ask your wife to suggest some all-time greats for me to watch and convey my regards to her. Watch more Indian movies and I can help you out.
I thoroughly enjoy your poems. Read me if you can.

Rain is a very powerful symbol used in poetry and I think I have more powerful entries to recieve for this super contest.

The storm of you

Thunder rolls into hammer slams
Rain drums into my hair, down my shirt
Though it threatens to strip the skin off me
It can't cleanse my soul
Doesn't wipe away the imprint of your lips
Or your fingers when they were gentle on me
or white-knuckled, curled, sneering
biting into the flesh of my arm, face

But the words are running down the letter
"I love you" is nothing more than an ink blur
Running down the paper with my life
Bruises still bloom flowers on my arms
Your handprint still fresh across my face
The way you love, rain pounds fists pelt
Lightning illuminates my darkest secret
I would give away all of myself to be part of you

A clear mind
.............

I'm just listening

The composition of beaded notes
dive at an angle aimed at my calves

Clear projectiles implode on my skin
slinking down toward my ankles

The rhythm is constant

Solid patterns

drumming

playing

trickling

A humming opus composed by the grey
leaving translucent tones around my feet

I could listen forever

The drenching sound
makes me forget..

thank you Anando

Rain rain come again,
Bring a cyclone and some pain,
Batter and slaughter and kill and maim,
Then rain you can go away.

Well I am enjoying the pouring of rain drops on my hand and I think that this competition still needs some further dimensions of rain so that it becomes difficult for me to judge. More talents please. I think this one is a topic which is having unlimited dimensions of your compositions pertaining to your moods, the memories that you can attach with the rain, the different meanings poetry has allotted to rain and many many more.

"NOW THE RAIN"

Now the rain

and its cleansing sweetness

like the spreading fragrance

of star jasmine its purity

like swans caught invisible

upon reflections

untouched by ripples

The rain proceeds piercingly

its vast blades cutting

grooves into earth’s skin

Now the streetlamp's

warm blush

or sweet orange blush

glowing upon dysfunctional hours

that winter has placed coldly

like a worn-out coat over

the city’s shivering silence

(from my forth-coming second book
due in late-summer 2011, from Stillpoint Press)

Rain rain come again and
please don't leave my sight.
So lonely and cold in the inside,
but hot and wet on the out.
A lovely hot, humid day all
I want is rain to fall from the
sky. I want to feel the showers from
the cries above and never feel the pain,
I have been caused before.

Rain rain sprinkle on me, touch my soul and
make love to my heart. Move me side by side,
dance with me while you trimble over me
with every drop that shines from the golden
lids of wells above.

Rain rain numb me from head to toe.
Give me a shot, make sure its a rain
shot. Rain will you be my pill to ease my pain?
Though  it's not pain  of hurt, but
pain of love... Love of the rain that falls
over top of me tingging off my tongue...

Rain rain came again and it soon will
leave again.

Well one of the finest competitions I have enjoyed with this one and rain almost knocking the doors of we Delhities I think I need some more entries to make this competition one of the toughest for me to decide.
So yes I am gonna close this on the 31st Aug along with my other running competition in the site Raut Caught Contest and by then I will be the most busiest one.
So hurry up entries!!!

I've decided to enter again, my last entry seems ages ago.

ice.

staring at pebbles fumbling about
themselves in the wind. dirt and leaves swirling
around the base of the road,
I saw a shadow of a bird swooping down-
when I looked to the sky
I saw no bird, I saw no light.

it was gray and bleak and beautiful. I felt
air shift and center toward the trees
so they could drink the world to sustain life-
and it was beautiful.

standing past the first couple of drops
I waited
and like the trees I braced myself
then felt ice pierce my skin, I felt myself shatter
in to little bits just to become one with it-
with the world and I felt whatever
paper/stone I had left in me
shatter too, to become one.

Rain falls from up high;
Stains faces like tears,
Commits suicide on the pavement.

I watch it---
Fascinated by it’s dance.

Suddenly all becomes quiet:
The Sun has made his presence known.

He draws flocks of people locked inside outside,
To enjoy the warmth of his rays
To relish in his glow---

All but myself----
I remained by my window
Daring it to rain once more.

Oh god,
stop this rain.
This mist is suffocating.

My hair is wet
and warm
and looks like the tail of a rat-king.
