open up the door
like invite me into earths core
at the gates of a fucked up place called midian
somewhere i been; around the prime maridian
devils in the flesh got us feelin we just like kids again

grabbin demons by the horns
ride em like a bull spreadin lies just to misinform
on the day of deceit
your seed goes out and plays trick or treat
spreading evil imagery through the streets

straight into yalls head
inviting in the angels fallen
most notably abaddon
all hope abandon
because of majik djinns like alladin

your soul is attackin
your mind cause its slackin
i know your like "that shit cant happen"
kabbalah imagined
look in the mirror at your own damn fashion

hackin and slashin
killin and whinin
i just wouldnt be here laughin
if i thought you aint mind it
but if ya wanna see the tragic you dont havta look far to find it

its inside your basement and inside your mind
its everywhere a cage is and inside youll find
everyone you love and everyone you hate
just because in reality all of these casualties there aint no hope of escape
now i know what yall think just because i take fate to the brink

blood on the denim
evidence i reckon
religion is my weapon
with a cinder block im checkin
to see if you awake or if you restin

learn yourself a lesson
hell on earth yeah my births Armageddon
just a fucked up felon
standin at the gates of hell and
shouting out in your ears, said im yellin in your mellon
haha

What is this emptiness this pain without regret,
Swallowing the blood, the gore and guts of all of it
Do you see yourself in the mirror, I don't and I hate that fact
I'd love to see all that I've taken, your skin your bones your very breath.

Every one has a little hell in him,
A force to nurture,
to love and to grow through out your limbs.
Give life to your grave even before you face death.

To sit inside the catacombs of some forgotten place,
To raise up sacrifice and spit in gods face.
I am no more then that which of the darkest parts of space,
Touched by the leviathan, caught up in his absu.

Perfectly in tune with each and every gate,
At the top of the latter of lights,
Squeezing into the empty space,
Somewhere between the elders and that forgotten ancient race.

"IA! IA! ZI AZAG!
IA! IA! ZI AZKAK!
IA! IA! KUTULU ZI KUR!
IA!"
AZAG-THOTH I WANT TO BE POSSESSED AND HONOR YOU!

My transformation through Baphomet

Serial killings so heavy pull me down with such gravity
As I dream of a place called Midian I can't help but question my sanity
Where monsters so vividly dance among headstones
I know that if I find them I won't be alone

Fueled by desire
I went in search of the undying life giver
Baphomet led me past the feather river
Through an overgrown field to where I can see the gates of sanctuary
Within them I then met the faces of those in the obituary

In this place of refuge I stood before the priest Lylesburg
A creature who could see the truth
Awaiting my judgment like so many before me
To be accepted into the arms of transforming

I will immerse myself into the night
Emerging Nightbreed into the sunlight
My hands now weak are useless to fight
Which is why I have these, long slender knives

Countless blades are transfixed into my body
To be used when ready I decorate myself gaudy
These wounds never close
They accentuate the pain I impose
Plunging them deeper
I'm renamed The Reaper

Now I exist guarding the gate from outsiders
The natural beings with genocidal intentions
I walk through the headstones with unnatural powers
Picking the pedals from the gravestone flowers

Since I was a child I heard the call of Baphomet drawing me in
He embraced me and my lust for the fifth deadly sin
Now in the shadows I feel I am at home
They called me a beast and Midian is where the monsters go

anthonyeastman I love your poem there! Nothing wrong with a bit of ancient Sumerian necromancy, I always say! Adds some variety to the mix. Very cool poem, again I must say I totally love it!

Thank you so much. I love the fact that you recognized the Sumerian overtone. Median is a place for monsters and no one has better monsters then the Sumerians.

I could not agree more! Creatures like the terrible giant demon Humbaba or as it is called in the old lore Huwawa... had awesome descriptions in the ancient texts such as things to the effect of: "When the demon looks at someone, it is like unto the look of impending death. Humbaba's roar is a flood, his mouth is death and his breath is like unto fire! He can hear a hundred leagues away any rustling in his forest! Who would go down into his forest!"

And you just don't see that level of dread and pure nastiness in many monster descriptions. And there's infamous demons such as Pazuzu of The Exorcist fame and demons of lust such as Gelal and Lilit (the Biblical Lilith) who were pretty much the original Incubus and Succubus. Pretty much a tremendously great deal of western demonology as we have it today owes a huge debt to the ancient Sumerian traditions that came first. So yeah...

Sumerian monsters rock!

Difficult decision here. All three ran so close but alas, there can be only one winner
