FREEDOM OF CHOICE

Lucky are those who were born free
But senseless forcing others to take it
Our very own cognizance of freedom
May differ from those we want to impose

While we clamor for gay and abortion rights
And other human rights so many to mention
Do you really think other people care about these
When all their concern is the right to exist

Do you believe we're truly an advocate for freedom
When we encroach on foreign lands to satisfy our craving
We just feed the needs of someone's lust
For absolute power and total control

We look dashing when we arrived on sheep's cloaks
And very eloquent spreading words about Democracy
Don't you think we are trampling upon others’ rights
When we leave them no choice to embrace ours

Those who accept our trade with open arms
And support our ideologies are mighty Allies
How do we treat and call those people
Peacefully living, before we give them Hell

Have we not learned from history
From time immemorial to present generation
Nobody wins a war except for battles fought
But the warmongers and greedy entrepreneurs

From the dense jungles to the rugged mountains
Down by the raging rivers and valleys of death
Our young soldiers bravely marched and fought
Losing their limbs and precious lives for naught

As long as we are engaged in foreign ghost wars
And don’t fail to sustain those with greedy hearts
Then my dream of peace and freedom to choose
Drifts with the wind, gets buried in the abyss

JUSTICE: an immeasurable maybe

http://i823.photobucket.com/albums/zz151/kckyrass22/unfairladysmall_zps054d3529.jpg

she exists

giving into the narrative
the pro, the con, the potentiality of loss
the rationalization to
take it all in

she exists

heard and has seen things
the ebb, the flow of the tide
been on that ride as dizzy as all can get

out & about attempting to catch her own breath

she exists

burdened with
yet another wry why, another
how come, another bell
rung

no fun, but
she’s learning
perhaps just enough

justice

her wheels
for and about deals
the appeals
those self serving squeals
they just keep rolling

it's her existence

so she must make room
this as she tries to “evenly” ward off any additional corrosion
that corruption

we don't know; but
we do think at intervals she's had a portion

but what if she hasn’t?
what if all of this has
been for naught?

the motion
the stillness
the question
the answer

the whole lie

mindless adventure
all of her "good things" which
took us through time
seemingly sightless but never the blind

never quite full

serving the mysticism of an immeasurable maybe

where
everyone but her
have had sightings a bit crazy

The human eliment

To me the human eliment
Is unjust

People are stupid
Moody
And make decisions
With there emotions
Instead of with
There brains
The next time
I go to court i
Hope the judge gets
Layed the nite before
Sentencing
And pray he dosnt
Stub his toe
First thing in
The morning

Because people are
Stupid moody
And make decisions
With there emotions
Not there brains

CONFESSIONS

Speak to me
Tell me your disemboddied lies
The headless truth
Will find you
In the aftermath

Speak to me
Tell me your fractured fear
The bruise will not break you
Your bones are not meant
To be broken

Speak to me
Tell me your pathology of life
Tongue tight , your spirit
Falls from you

As it sways through dark
The rope hangs there still
Forth, back, back, forth
Always
It
Will

She can see just fine
But not everyone gets
What they want
Fair is unbiased
The same rules apply to everyone
Everyone has the same opportunity
Do with it what you will
She's not uncaring
In fact she feels too much
Her hopes her yearning
It's never really enough
Sometimes she gets distracted
And we hold these moments up
Say look at this she's broken
She's just not good enough
Any idea, any principle
Can be turned to an evil cause
But is a lapse in justice
Worse than a war fought for a god?

I have not forgotten. I need to carve out some time in order to give the poems the attention they deserve.

Thanks for the bump of shame, Magdalena, lol!

This comp got the better of me... I can just hear the poets now, "huh, what? Oh, I think I remember some comp with that topless lady being unfair and smoking in bed..."

No words will get me off the hook, but for politeness sake, I still would like to say sorry for leaving this comp hanging for so long. The timing of it suffered for external factors out there in the big, bad world that had my attentions elsewhere.

So, these entries varied so vastly, and I realized that the concept of injustice is a hard one to pin down. The most precise wording of it I found to be "abuse of power", and where did I find it but in Hades Rising's entry, along with his vivid scenes of fire and sword, deftly portraying injustices of war, religious conversions and the struggle for freedom in one's own beliefs.

There were some entries about unfairness on a personal level, between lovers, alluding to break-ups, heartbreak and abuse. Snugglebuck deserves a mention here for the funniest warning label I have read to date - a great idea of 'Love' as a product affecting hapless consumers.

For sheer thought-prodding power packed into few words, Chiyo's haiku takes the biscuit!

Well done, all of you, and thanks for entering the comp.

Please keep a look out for a new thread in the next couple of weeks, that will announce which poets were chosen for publication in Serendipity Magazine. The Heart Issue is due out soon!
