Neighbor

Laying in bed
I read this prompt
I sit up
Look behind me
My grandma/ my neighbor
Her house peers at me
Through my curtains
I see her, in her kitchen
How gracious I am
to have a neighbor
That loves me
Gets down on her knees
to pray for me
Cooks me chicken and dumplings
Cries for my broken heart
Writes me songs
and see's me as God does
(Fucked up but lovable)
I am gracious
To have
the best neighbor
on the block

The louvered glass window.

I see the green of the lush tropical forest
With rain dripping off the leaves.

I can hear that very clearly,
Coming in through the louvered glass panes.

There are several coconuts laying on the ground
The dark wet ground where the grass has not grown

I hear a few birds calling
And I feel the cool breeze on my back and neck

But mainly I see it is all wet and dripping and cool.

THOSE BEHIND

As I sit comfortably
In a dark recess
To catch a glimpse
Of a God
Those that sit behind
Stare intently ahead
As this God and
Insects battle like
The titans they are
We gasp and flinch
As violence rages
Before our eyes
And cheer at last
When triumphantly
Godzilla rises

This was actually earlier today, but I thought it would be a cool little poem

WHAT IS BEHIND ME.

As I sit on my bed reading what was written I turn around and the first thing I see is my past and death comeing closer .

Day by day night by night , my past and death come to hunt me and never let me go so I dont turn around I just keep looking foward.

So I dont turn around becuse I know that my past and death are always there following me waiting for me to mess up so it can take me down into its hell ...

Beige rage

I turn around
and face the beige featureless wall
of my bleached rented home.

The walls drive me mad some days
as I sit, craving to splash shades
on the barren surfaces;
some photos perhaps?
A few memories to remind me
exactly how far I've come
to sit in this sterile void

and we are not so different
these walls and I-
We both stand rigid, unchanged
by the world and all her wailing woes.
We both crave colour, to bleed out
a personality and a creativity
suppressed by rules and conformity

we simply remain
hardened and apathetic,
waiting for the inevitable fall.

three big steps back
sits the kitchen behind me
constantly leading me
through the threshold of
an expected domesticity

my loved ones have to eat
but I don't feel like cooking
breakfast, washing the dishes,
or throwing away the day old trash

I just want to sit here
in front of my laptop screen, daydream,
and OD on coffee & keystrokes

I turn around and I see a door
Looming, heavy and massive, it won't let me leave
Why is it closed, I swear it was open before
Feeling trapped and helpless, I begin to grieve
A voice calls my name, but I'm alone in here
The voice calls again, a whisper in my ear
I look around and realize, that I'm in quite a bind
I look around and realize, that I'm trapped within my mind

Up, Down, On The Wall

Pillows in cotton cases against a leather headboard
a wall of ancient stone behind all that
I could be the brick the wall never had
laid back here in the bed
in the dark

listening to the music in headphones
connected to a plug in that semi-fortress
it's boring back there

what I'm looking at ahead of me
now there's a story in that one
for sure
