"Light to darkness(2 of 4)"

We stood there in his realm
He stood no chance against me
So I thought
Wondering why he didn't quit
When I enter
I can see him, he has no say
He didn't attack me either
He watched as I lit his world
Radiant, I make it all white
Shining my furious light
The orb of my aura follows
his head
Yet he only scurries in defense
I'll teach him not to run
To meet what is right
I'll relief him of his pain
Why does he stay here?
In such a dark place?
Does he not fear what he cannot see?
I break through his line
and I stand above him
I am gentle
I am calm
I wish to end him
For a greater good

What is this?
That glint in his eye
As he whispers,
"I should have stayed in the shadows..."
He's gone.
I rustle to see
My optics can only catch
The silhouette of his shadow
Moving around me
Hit
I fall now
He stands above me
Flaring his darkness into my face
In this dark valley,
He knows his strength

I should have stayed where I could see....

When was the last time we kissed on the corner of a street?

When was the last time we kissed on the corner of a street
when it mattered the most? You say
why is it that when we age
that drift of sensual exhibition seems to drift from us,
an exhibition that knows no boundaries except
to exploit what we once innocently felt,
like an impulse waiting to explode,
then implodes from the inside out.
that used to be us. . .young, wicked, dangerous, un-wise,
un-visceral, un-universal, genuine angst at its unpolluted
but somehow we have become polluted with the
do’s and don’ts, the acceptable and unacceptable,
the conventional and unconventional of age
so why should we live by those fucking rules?  You grab
my hand and pull me close to you, and far from them,
in my mind you are still sixteen, and your kiss still tastes
of Marlboro mint faintly washed by a bottle of domestic beer
just like the night I snuck out of my parents’ house
to make-out with you beneath a lighted pole on the corner of a street.

Words of love
Words.
In expert hands.
Manipulate deftly.

Enthralling you,
Cutting into,
Your life.

Strangling your thoughts.

Winding,
Ropes of spider silk,
Around your heart.

Working,
Magic.

Imprisoning you.

Sorry it took so long to read the newest entries, but I'm ready for the next wave of 'em. They're absolutely spectacular so far, so keep them coming, guys.

NECROMANCER

Fearless, as most youth can be
I abased my dose of purity
Spent all of my days trying to conquer the night.
With reckless curiosity
I courted Death with intensity
And shunned all chaperons save Pure Delight.
I did not heed the mourning dove
Or the consequence of requited love
Convinced that I was somehow born invincible,
I committed the worst of crimes,
Social suicide so many times
Even my ghost has now become invisible.

Hooks and Chains

Welcome to my mind,
now open the door and take my hand as we journey through a nightmare.
Close your eyes,
and promise not to open them, For the sights of my brooding will kill if you stare.
The door closes behind us and now there is no turning back
we must go through the maze to the end of the line
to survive the mental attack.

Below your bare feet is a warm, soft cushion,
Tread light and mind the nails.
What you feel is the skins pinned together from the faces of subconscious thoughts.
I come here sometimes to this room, from which I write to you,
in the corner is where I sit and listen,
in a chair of stitched together tits,
to the mouths in the floor that guide my pen.
They speak in tongues only I can understand
and all you hear is the din.
A hand grabs your foot, its nails prick your skin
but fear not, that is just an idea catching my attention.

Can you hear the screams bleeding through the walls?
They are the screams of the people I torture down the hall.
Keep walking and try not to stop
there’s so much to witness though see you cannot.

The metallic twinkle of swinging chains echo from the dungeon ahead
And the ground has gone from soft and warm to cold and wet.
Sharp gravel cuts between your toes as I lead you through the threshold of pain.
The air is heavy and still, stagnant with the stench of blood.
What happened to the screams you heard in the room before?
You open your eye to take a peek, in regret you drop to the floor.
No ceiling here just darkness like a midnight sky out from which links of steel ascend.
Countless rows of bodies with hooks in their flesh suspended above the ground.
Wires woven through their lips explains the sudden silence
Walking past I cant resist the carving of ones flesh.
A sharpened blade and steady hand now you’ve seen my violence.

Open your eyes again I swear to tear them out
Meticulous and surgically nobody will hear you shout
Keep walking and try not to stop
Were close to the end though see it you cannot

The sound of bells resonate in your skull as I lead you to an ash blackened altar
A murmur grows behind you, a hymn without any falter.
Pain is what i worship and blood is my only god
Can you feel the razor at your neck?
A flick of the wrist is all it took and god is in its way.
You try to resist but in dreams you are nothing and your existence is limited to my brain.
Your body is mine and mine for the taking
Thank you for your donation of pain.

Lapping the blood,
and eating your remnants.
I have finally killed the good.
Leaving only the resonance,
suspended by chains
attached to a blood rusted hook.

This has been the most difficult competition ever, and it didn't even involve me having to write anything! It doesn't help that I write bloody long poems most of the time, too. I went to about page 15-17 of my poem history and decided I was kidding myself, I would not be able to find a short favourite - I generally don't have favourites of my own writing. Had about 7 to choose from by then so I choose this one, purely because it was probably one of the rawest pieces I have done.

Eleven days... you guys still have time to submit your entries, or, for those of you who already have, to check if they follow the rules, as well as change it if you so desire.

Bronx Butterfly

A beautiful butterfly perched outside your windowsill
such a sight to see In a place where darkness dwells
from the depth of a forgotten city
a wretched hell...

I hear a song like no other you've ever heard
so tone deaf I can't even hear the words
Gun shots ring out It's a thundering sound
with no witnesses to see and no cops around.

An ambulance screeches In the distance
another soul, a life Is taken
but this will not be the last
somewhere a mothers heart is breaking.

From a few buildings down I can hear a soft voice crying,
a little girls plea, her hopes slowly dying
A birds broken wing, It struggles to fly
a beat up woman, she runs to hide.

A poor man lays In the streets
with torn pants and nothing to eat
no jacket for warmth, no shoes on his feet
so discarded and alone with nowhere to go
where will he end up? nobody knows.

So many homeless families with broken dreams
to weak to fight, so hopeless It seems
the ghetto is a place where no one should be
not even your worse and loathed enemy.

So to you I ask, are you guilty of greed?
Are you the one? Are you ever In need?

Next time you pass someone less fortunate than thee
remember these words remember me
Reach into your pocket and dig down deep
because What you have now, may not be yours to keep.

For I am that Woman,Man,Child and Bird
I come from the Bronx New York,
haven't you heard?

they say they dont understand
i dont blame them
how could they understand

its just a nip here
a nick there
they wont know
they wont have a chance to cry
to yell
to give "tough love"

they can see my hurt
they can see i dont need their lectures
but still they talk
and talk
and talk
talktalktalktalk
all i want is for them to be quiet
for the world to go away
where its all still
where soft currents can take me away
not to die
but to sleep

they just dont understand
their noise cuts through my quiet
punctuated by bandaids and ACE bandages
they never just let the bad parts of me bleed out like they need to do
so much of me is undesirable
why do they still even try?
they even force me to talk
even when my voice is gone and words wont come

they saw my smile
i was happy
just fine
i didnt need their help
i dont need their help
i cant accept their help
im too proud
and too pathetic
too stubborn
too weak
too much of this
too much of that
to do much of anything but stare
and let their noise fade into the background and have the world finally quiet
finally stand still
finally fade
where all i need
and all i get
is a hug that doesnt judge
a soft kiss that doesnt cry
and sleep

I apologize sincerely for taking so long to judge. I have been in the hospital since the day before the competition ended. I will judge over the weekend and post the winner Monday.

Sorry for the further delay, but I have the results! Drum roll, please! In first place: Mad Hatter. Tied for second: Unknownemo and Violence. As for the rest of you, absolutely bloody fantastic job! I did this in bracket style scoring as best I could, that way it'd be easier to find second and third place without going back and judging it all over again, and I would like to award Missy and Hadesrising for the most difficult bracket of all.

Congratulations, and thank you all for pleasuring me with your entries!

Thanks for me even getting a place. I tried to think of something he would say but I'm so clueless It's nice to know that he's liked though.
