The sun is suffocating
in a sea of melancholy
Greying skies full of lies
Exploit the notion of living
The moon is choking
in a mist of absurdity
Darkening clouds scream out loud
A voice of the wretched
The ocean is drowning
as waters are clouding
Stagnation and gestation
Of vomitous human bile
The world is decaying
dying and degrading
A sickening stench covers every inch
Quickened by the virus of humans
in a sea of melancholy
Greying skies full of lies
Exploit the notion of living
The moon is choking
in a mist of absurdity
Darkening clouds scream out loud
A voice of the wretched
The ocean is drowning
as waters are clouding

I was born three years before
The beginning of the Second World War
I remember the bombing and rations
And outrageous post war fashions
The postwar government left a legacy
Health service and schools for posterity
Rebuilt cities damaged by the war
Full employment added to their score
The fifties; when I was a teen
The sexual revolution was still a dream
Fear of pregnancy made one chaste
So avoiding marriage in haste
Couples tended to stay together
Divorce seen as a drastic measure
This did not mean people were content
Many finding life a torment
These decades set the scene
For much change that we have seen
We now have freedom and variety
In a much more tolerant society

I used to be the kid
Who'd believe that
Every person that I'd meet
Would have been
Honest.
How lawless are we
When it's only politicians
Who can never talk straight then claim
that it's all
Progress?
I guess
No one's really on it.
After all we're being brainwashed;
Ain't that just
Diabolic?
It's despondent
How far we have fallen
From the X, down
to the next generation of
Profits
And all this
Talk of target markets
Had us all eyeballing
Ad space while their net revenues
Sky rocket.
I think
That it speaks for itself.
The landscape's changed.
Now we're too glued to the tube and what's
In our pockets.
Here stood a generation razed
Down to it's dying days,
giving rise to an age
Raising kids up like some
Brain dead apes.
It's sickening.
We were born to all suck,
but at least we get to see
A 21st century get
Pass-out drunk.

Generation (Wh)Y
I saw the best minds of my generation
polarized by apathy
glued to the TV
watching a mock reality
trying to read the tea leaves
Peter Pan to Wendy-
(or was it Snooki?)
let's camoflauge mediocrity
and bask in fantasy
forever young--
pumping ourselves with chemicals
who cares if its medically relevant
no one said we were sentimental
polishing the surface
because that's what's valuable
I saw the best minds of my generation
struggling to dig deep in a shallow world
destined for shallower designer graves
we've replaced heroin needles
with fiber-optic lines
we're tuned in
but turned off
numb to violence
nonchalant to anonymous sex
we reject god
for technological shaymanism
there is no salvation
when there's nothing
to rebel against
just wasted sensation

My Time
A leader got murdered
on the tarmac of an airport
we so wanted him
the man at the palace
wanted our land
maybe he would be different
we mourned thousands of miles away
So Beat It
hit the market
boys screaming in high octave
red studded jackets
with zombies from graves
we ate popcorn at the cinema
graduation from life
how odd
I still sported flowers
in my hair
and wanted San Francisco
the Police said
Every breath you Take
I loved Irene Cara
wanted to grow up
to be just like her
we have almost the same
skin tone
I didn't grow up
She flew
Duran Duran
skinny jeans
spandex
tights
leggings
they were right
we were
Hungry like a wolf
My Time
turbulence
indulgence
discovery
growing up
too soon
smeared lipsticks
Lighted candles.

Blown To Smithereens
Well I still wallow in the ‘80’s
‘Cause the music is neat
I was a dour-dressing goth
On the alternative scene.
The Mighty Lemondrops
And Gene Loves Jezebel
Are just some of what now graces
My iPod as well.
The Cure, The Smiths and Bowie
They all live in my dreams
And also Gary Numan
And the Smithereens.
Kate Bush,
Throwing Muses,
Talking Heads,
Lollapalooza
Infuse my soul
With the music.
Can’t beat it
All the time
Age of Excess
Blow my mind.
But the best thing from the 80’s
Came in modern times—
The guy from Winter Hours
Is now a friend of mine….

My Nineties
low down like that bastard
getting wetted in the back of the Acura
after school, down the way, with a spatula
flipping candy at the rave, feel spectacular
mad stamina, rally around the amateurs
with a pocket full of shells, and tablatures
on how to play the bassline that unravels ya
melt your face, but don't start the panic yet
before the ox goes cannibal
keep it corpse and of course
the prophet comes in the form of a damager
the girl is interrupted, get her anger management
punk's about to die, fuck the whole establishment
Jerry's still alive, wish I spent some time with him
rhythm of the saints, even fucks with Paul Simes and them
it's a balooned mind state, three foot high and rise it is
do you want more, yes I'm positive
use to love her like no other, just like common did
before the sense left the scene, and it's been vomit since!
