Singing Over the Clouds

http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2013/287/1/2/singing_over_the_clouds___by_engrvv_by_engrvv-d6qg1f8.jpg

Have you noticed something
in and around your surrounding?
Concrete jungles are sprouting
faster than the waves can return to the seashore
The air we breathe is polluted,
murky waters flow along the rivers—
once crystal clear and friendly.

I wonder if the children born in today’s society
will still have rivers to swim and trees to climb,
for trees are dwindling, bird sanctuaries are gone;
Walnut orchards and strawberry farms
gave way to silicon manufacturing firms;
Modern subdivisions are on the rise,
Global warming—is it the price?

We have made so much progress,
and ain’t bad at all…
Breakthroughs in scientific researches,
as well as technological advancements:
computers, cell phones, worldwide web and many more;
Mind-boggling as they are compared to the by-gone era,
yet we forgot the repercussions:
cascading effects of global warming
already upon us,
cataclysmic doom—eagerly looming
Isn’t it time to seek a New World?

I have just one request when I die—send me
with my old guitar to heaven…
so I would be singing over the clouds—
hoping it would rain
to somewhat ease your pain,
and awaken the forests slowly dying.
Until then, let’s do something drastic:
stop burning fossil fuels
which releases carbon dioxide methane
and chloro-fluro carbons causing holes
in the ozone layer – atmospheric shield
from the sun’s harmful radiation;
start using renewable sources of energy,
such as solar and wind—clean and abundant
Mother Nature’s gifts to mankind.

Why are we so blind for so long?
Not to see…
they’re just here for the taking—
waiting to be harnessed
The burden is upon us;
let’s do something now
to prevent cataclysmic doom,
cross your fingers, and
hope against time…

Doom's Day Aftermath

http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2013/287/d/1/end_of_days_by_engrvv-d6qg3fd.jpg

There once was a poet named Poetryman
He was such a hunk of a man
Who started a poem competition
Something about earth's destruction
Lost everything, including his woman

The scientists missed their predictions
Because the earth was in collision
Chaos was everywhere
My lady was nowhere
Dark clouds blurred my vision

The earth rumbled and tumbled
I was disoriented and troubled
Total darkness shrouded my being
Modern gadgets useless for seeing
Got knocked down and humbled

When I woke up I was in a cold maze
I'm surprised to see a familiar face
Coming around the bend was Poetryman
With all the foxy ladies in a white van
Ready to reproduce a new breed of race

We need your expertise poetic engineer
Rebuilding can't be accomplished by a seer
The earth as you see, is still intact
Regardless of the huge impact
Come with us, my dominion is near

Thank you my friend for your invitation
I thought I was in total abomination
Who could refuse such gestures
When all I could see are sexy figures
Nice prelude to sexual culmination

GLOBAL WARMING: REAL OR MYTH

Extreme weather has become the new normal
but for a layman's point of view, it's paranormal
All across the land we suffer from Poseidon's wrath,
yet we ignore his warnings, and act like a spoiled brat.

Make no mistake about global warming—
Science has given us unequivocal warning
It's for real, and happening faster than ever
Work on solutions; otherwise, it's now or never!

The deep blue seas are beginning to rise
from the polar regions due to melting ice;
caused by the hotter sun and earth's reflectiveness,
as well as greenhouse gases from human activities.

Human activities: burning of fossil fuels - coal and oil,
a few have attempted to raise awareness but failed to foil
Increased concentrations of carbon dioxide in our atmosphere,
and continuous actions cause greenhouse effect more severe.

Deforestation for agriculture and community development
threatens the biological diversity of the world that's why I lament
Together with half of all plant and animal species in the forests,
who would protect our unique ecosystems if we lay down to rest?

Hurricanes, earthquakes and other natural disasters
took the magnificent beauty of the once grand pilasters
Scorching wildfires, tornadoes and record floods
left hapless victims swimming in a sea of blood.

The list could go on and on, as long and frequent as it gets,
if we don’t do something now, we’ll end up with regrets
We ignored the warnings pretending we never knew
the signs of the end times as written by St. Matthew.

"Warning: we are not to be deceived—these events
are only the beginning of birth pains;
the end is still to come..."

              DOOM

First instinct of its over-chilled winds felt deeply suspicious
Of their oddity in hidden stores and sinistrous hints in blink
They smelt exceedingly floral like bunches of night jasmine bait
hitting over the burnt cheeks out of scorches and sweats for weeks,
still stuck with obnoxious traces pleading relief, now getting paid off

Emphatic slow-drumming mood-veterans with some diseased agenda
now ruin the set scenes more in drizzling that never knew an end spell

And, what now, even the steady circling eagle majesties are back in grey skies
Along with huge geckos running swift indoors after mysterious long disappearances
Tiny green smelly field bugs are misplaced home nocturnal sapping lappy screens
Further worse, a single hovering housefly kissing nose-tip and forehead, for what?

Is it a short passing scene of transition towards habitable times or just a grave
beginning of hostility that would get inhuman as it gets going more in brutal tilts
Shivers from these strange strains blocks nasal ways and prick throat in pains
Pathetic carriers of soul suffers setback in what seems a downfall towards doom

p.s: one of my older writes. Hey,I hope any force of doomsday you mean, not particularly that destroys for good, which I consider v.rare.

and yes Uma, that definitely qualifies

Unforgiven

Counting the seconds between
Thunderclaps overhead in this
Cataclysmic crescendo
An endnote destroying angels led with
Seven trumpets resounding
Foreboding sense exists the sound of which
Heralds the end of time
You can stand and unite
But you're all gonna die

My Brain Is Screaming In Pain!
These meds are going to cause my death,
Valium,Xanax,illicit's and the rest,
causing me to feel lonely and
depressed,
because I'm too sedated to hold
down a job,
when the docs keep feeding me pills
till I drop,
I barely have enough energy to pat my dog,
I get paid off of the dole,
I only use the money to buy
alcohol,
so my thoughts are consisted
of what's the point of my
existence?
I feel ridiculous trying to
persist through this shit,
when the world is a prison
full of rich winners
and sinners who go
fucking the losers,
People like me are caught
up in the middle of it,
because I haven't
achieved anything
to a corporate level
unfortunately,
but I'm trying to stop
thinking about this,
because the
drug is taking it's hit
making me feel like
sleep is the best thing
to do currently,
Conspirators could't care about
the few exceptions of street life,
which is the general populations
perception because they
are a projection of in affection
in civilisation,
I am an alternative human
who deserves respect,
which I evidently
don't get,
because of the fucked
up shit,
that hit's
peoples heads like bricks,
turning mother fuckers
into dust,
after anarchy occurs in
the streets and people
cuss,
later guns bust,
which was all planned
by a masochists lust,
after seeing some guns
go inside a persons fragile
confines.

My world.

the king of my domain, once,
insufferable I remain the man but less,
to what end am I to loose, my throne my power my very soul.

still I fight; but I do-not as strength taken, striped,
ripped from flesh of beating heart my world destroyed, my life, apart.

left, with no option but acceptance, an unimaginable fate
in-dispersed with nightmares of futures once begotten hope,

so in darkness I remain, for no might that once controlled the thoughts of men dose comfort dyeing soul,

and here as I stand, my world, is all but fleeting.

I chose the winner based on flow and conveyance of imagery/theme. Thanks for participating

We the people upon the Earth Naked and torn asunder from what would
be and is to come.

Sky magma cracked howl of demons within the lands.  Specters of
countless aeons past.  Point their claws towards the final throne
so many denied and cast.

Blood drenched rivers of fire and cold sleepless hungry starving
holocaust of the uncountable dead.  Birth pains of a World finally
convulsing.  Into its regime and finale of the Great Mouth of God's Wrath.
Ready to be consumed and fed.

A great wicked reign of poisoned arrows like endless rains.  Engulfed the
skies and buried our brows and flooded are brains.  Endless tempural fluctuation
within the sky, and our very depths of our souls.  Could not give us the peace
we needed to prepare for the finale yet to come and to be told.
