Poetry Contest

Romance in a colour - A love poem.
Okay, rules
Please don't pick the same colour as another member.
Try to choose a colour that represents the person you are writing about.
Try to keep the colour as an on going theme.

Good Luck! I will judge this in a few weeks.

The Colours: (Once we've run out of colours the contest is closed.)
Android Green - Jolais
Periwinkle blue - Cori Story
Hooker's green - Kas
Cornsilk - Leppero
Dark scarlet - Opheliac
Jazzberry jam - Dragonyear
Golden poppy - Jestalessa
Unmellow Yellow - Mike
Halaya ube - Lord Viddaxion
Golden Yellow - Anandosen

Example: UFO Green.

UFO Green

We sailed on a boat
of U.F.O green.
Unidentified flying object, someone told me -
well, our unidentified love was flying on the sea,
pulled out by the wind
and stretched out in a shadow by our sun. Pirate ships
cannot catch us, overdosing on their emerald pills
and rum.

We spent months on our chinese spacecraft, jaded and myrtle in
our ebony blanketed stars. Watch out, my alien subtraction, divide,
multiply and plus and my scientific acid and my language-filled tongue.

We swam across the sky
painted U.F.O green,
it wasn't the most beautiful colour,
people in their ant-sized fantasy hollered 'Puke'
and we didn't care and we didn't run scared and we acknowledged
our hallucinations in it's unidentified lime; such lime that
we acknowledged our memories of tequila
and salt.

We spent months on our chinese spacecraft, jaded and myrtle in
our ebony blanketed stars. Watch out, my alien subtraction, divide,
multiply and plus and my scientific acid and my language-filled tongue without the words to speak of romance.

Dark Scarlet

Dark as if they were
scarlet you said,
and you touched them,
and i shivered.

Your heart is so onyx
But you say you love me
How? I feel cold when you touch me
I shiver at the thought
It's over isn't it? this story of ours
No happy ending
Just love torn apart

Sparkling dust dances now, with beams
landing colour of golden poppies
splashed through open balcony doors

Late afternoon
lounging with leaves' shadows
scattered 'cross a half the floor-
our daytime gone has been well lived
in that golden poppy sun

I laughed on and on
my muscles still hurt
lying breeze-clad on the sofa-
I had thought you'd let me win
but you got me

Good

Thinking back, I do regret
having torn up so many
tiny, papery, morning daisies
asking them questions no flower
should have to answer
especially since I knew the truth
whatever they had to say

Your eyes, satisfied
in golden sun
gave it all away

Periwinkle Blue

On a velvet blanket of periwinkle blue
lies our love, between us.
With the same blue eyes as the blanket,
he looks up at us as - expecting
with such innocent dependency.
Expecting us to love for him,
as well as him.
But, my lover's eyes aren't your
periwinkle blue, baby.
And nor are mine.

Halaya ube (A rather difficult one seeing as its not a natural colour, or is that just me?)

In the violet dusk bathed sky,
I watch the sun set.
This time between day and night
Today and tomorrow.
Resting on the railings I turn to you,
The last of the sun's rays embrace your face
Sunlight filtered through lilac clouds
And your eyes turn a sweet halaya ube
To which I fall maddening in love with
As you stare out into the purple night.

(How's that?)

Glowing, Lord V. It reads like a memory, that story book memory.

Glad you liked it, though I must admit its made up and isn't real. Well, for now at least.

I charge on the wall, not all that much maintenance
I'm android green for your camouflage convenience
Our sugar's been rare, when the jerk's out of town;
but the excitement we share when you need to dress down
in the most wooded of places
is the highlight of 'life'
for this useful creation.
I know ours is true for your willing libations
are only for Green, spare the slight complication
of that extra with flesh in the bed of your love.
But I was here first and I don't need a glove
the way that he does
when you don't take your pill.
You'll come back to me soon.
Believe me.
You will.

Hibiscus
(Jazz Berry Jam)

I never imagined the raw power of blossoming artistry

Could hold such sway over this weary heart

Yet here I am

Loving her with all I have

Under the trance of her flowing dance

Her movements tell sacred stories of this Island

In a divine sensual weave

She moves in feminine splendor

My heart doubles up on the drummers beats

Light brown skin smooth in softness

Naturally seduces me

Hips trace figure eights in swiveling ways

Long raven black hair sways in the air

Dark beauty set off by braided-in jazz berry jam hibiscus

Such a gorgeous Polynesian princess

I would burn a life time of wishes

To know the kiss of those full lips intimately

I feel like a mortal in the garden of a Goddess

Her spell sweet, empowering yet I feel weak

Toned legs shine

Arms rolling to spin the tale of ocean waves

The ritual climbing to crescendo

Knees bend as she drops down to the floor

Her nubile behind never losing rhythm of the roll

Such grace to behold I slowly implode

Her eyes curve in such exotic splendor

A stare that moves me

My infatuation cuts with the edge of sweet longing pain

She pulls me in closer with mystical surrender

Knowing I have to live and die in this night

Under this moon

After this tune

I will sway with my lady Haumeah

we ran laughing through the fresh rain
      strangers looked on in envy
your hair dances as you dry your wet skin
   candles flicker in silent adoration.

luna, soft in her celestial caress
turns your golden hair a pale yellow
   your eyes a shining invitation
your lace gown, shades of cornsilk

we stand, showing two fingers to life's trials
i am lost in gold and cornsilk
a momentary sadness catches my thoughts
           for i am only human

if the cruel hands of fate bear down and divide us
i will seek you out once more
the slow methodical countdown of time
shut out by loves tinge of rose

I can feel her vibes like backbeat
keeping my head nodding, nodding.
As she spins throughout the night,
leaving waves of unmellow yellow
rocking me in her wake—but, hell, I love it.
Citrine dreams and daffodils
fall fast upon my senses,
and all I can do is dance along her footsteps
down that yellow brick road,
but she's laying those golden ingots
and she's the rainbow at the end.
So DJ pump those speakers
and let the lemon-zest riffs lead us on.
