Don't know why, but that quote made me think of this new song I just wrote...

- Illuminati Love Slave -

I’ve got a little secret, love…
Nothing you can’t handle, honey!
I’ve been dancing in the grove,
But I’ll bet you think that’s funny.
A monarch butterfly in my brain,
Told me you thought I was plain…
But I’ve got a little secret, babe!
Darling, I’m a love slave.
Love slave! Love slave!
Illuminati love slave.
Dance this way; do as we say!
Illuminati love slave.

I’ve been broken many times,
Then put back together!
I tell my secrets in my rhymes,
In every kind of weather!
Bet you never noticed, lover,
Now you notice, so take cover!
Maybe I’m too much for you.
Oh baby, you know its’ true!
Look me honey in the eye,
You know that I cannot lie.
Time to run, time to wave,
Darling, I’m a love slave.

I’m like a little teacup, darling…
Strong yet fragile, pale ceramic!
My star is rising every morning,
Sometimes causing such a panic.
A monarch butterfly on the wall,
Told me you thought I knew it all…
Maybe I’ll tell you secrets, babe!
Darling, I’m your love slave.
Love slave! Love slave!
Illuminati love slave.
Dance this way; do as we say!
Illuminati love slave.

I’ve been broken many times,
Then put back together!
I tell my secrets in my rhymes,
In every kind of weather!
Bet you never noticed, lover,
Now you notice, so take cover!
Maybe I’m too much for you.
Oh baby, you know its’ true!
Look me honey in the eye,
You know that I cannot lie.
Time to run, time to wave,
Darling, I’m a love slave.

I’ve got my eye on you love…
Bet you think that it’s all seeing!
Have you seen my star above?
You know it’s up there gleaming.
A monarch butterfly in your face,
Made you want to see me in lace…
But I’ve got leather secrets, babe!
Darling I’m a love slave.
Love slave! Love slave!
Illuminati love slave.
Dance this way; do as we say!
Illuminati love slave.

Masquerade

Some have seen friends
Some have seen enemies
But, between you n' me
They are only our
Frenimies.

You write songs as well as you write poetry, Jessica! I notice you are multi-talented. And I hear you are an artist as well? Quite the repertoire! I am but a humble scribe compared to you, goddess, and I hope I prove worthy to one day be as revered as you are. Dance always to your own tune, Mother Jessica!

Jaded Mask:

A face weak to its intended way,
A soul decomposed that very day.

Walk through the darkened isle,
Patterned pictures, prudishly turn and ask.

Tell me who is left to smile,
Beneath a jaded mask.

Oh, this is very much how I was feeling last night. When I first joined on here yesterday, I put up a *very* badly photoshoped picture of myself because I always think I'm ugly and have a fat face and a werid nose... but today I thought I would put up a real photo of me so that's what you see on my profile now - the REAL Lauren. I still feel ugly, but at least I am not hiding behind that mask anymore. I've been talking to Jessica and one of my other new friends here on DUP, and they're helping me through my crisis. Sorry if I am rambling! Lol. But yes, I liked your poem very much.

Wow, thank you I'm glad you liked the poem
It sucks to have days like this where nothing seems to feel right, they never seem to end.

As for you, you picture is gorgeous, so don't stress and I read your poetry and I am impressed to say the least Stay great!!

It's all cool Laurie! You're an angel, truly, and one that I adore. You're one of the bright flames, my dear, and that's the truth! Keep the fire burning bright, and let anyone who doesn't like you be blinded by it. Stay strong, sweetie.

                    What's in a Face

Here is the masquerade,
The deception in this visual aid
If only I had listen, taken heed
When I first glistened its image

Look deep, look long
In the mirror you’ll perceive
They told me and I believe
my reflection  will show
a stranger I wouldn’t  know

so I stared at my mirror
watching for the change
in the range of features.  Hoping to see
the stranger  that dwells within me.

Gazing intently until a creature did appear,
a cold shiver ran my spine,
when through  a shimmer it came, not divine

Frightening, aware, of the metamorphose
My religiose begged me to pray against
This thing others saw, when they look at me

What I beheld had brown eyes,  that
looked nothing like mine.  Her head supine
in an unheard laugh, yet I hadn’t made a move,
wanting to make a beeline, out this room.
But where would I go?

Her mouth twisted in a smirk, answering my question
A quirk that put me in a self-made nightshade
This  was no charade, I was truly afraid

Who I thought I was,
Was not me at all, but this other being
within my skin.

I should have never seen what lurks within
the human skin. What’s inside of me was not a friend.
But something else, this side of sin

She winked, and I knew
She would soon gain full control
Where then will I go, perhaps inside a black hole?

Don’t look too closely, try not to see
The stranger in the mirror,
watching, waiting, patiently.

What is Beauty?

When I look in the mirror, do I see an angel?
No, I see the one the other girls called ugly,
The one the boys stayed away from in class.
How many coins did I toss in the wishing well?
Wishing I had some measure of true beauty.
Time sometimes seems to go by far too fast!

I miss my sister, she saw me as I wished to be.
But she is gone, and time has taken my heart,
Tested it and made me into what I am today…
A frightened little girl, though I am now adult.
Why did not one person ever understand me?
But I serve and I strive to do my humble part.
I read and studied as other girls got to play…
Even as I bore the agony: of every crazy insult.

And now I cry myself to sleep, shivering cold,
Wondering if I am beautiful, fearing the mirror.
But I look into it each day, for I am still bold,
And I see a weary woman, and I cry for her!
Oh my Goddess, where are you in my agony?
My spiritual sisters cannot know, what I bear.
If only someone had told me that I was pretty,
Maybe even loved me; then I would not care.

Does she know what beauty even is anymore?
Where has my life gone, the years a-slipping;
I want to go home, but where was I happiest!
My wings were broken unto my soul’s core…
And I felt the darkest spirits, always gripping,
While the other girls played, being more blest!

I tried to hide my true face behind a false one,
Now you know what I look like; is it horrible?
Hold me, mother, and tell me I look like you…
Don’t say I look like father, who was so cruel.
What is true beauty when all is said and done!
Everything fades, dying, crumbling into rubble.
Why must age take things from us often soon!
Who decides what beauty is, with an iron rule?

“Here too it’s masquerade, I find:  As everywhere, the dance of mind. I grasped a lovely masked procession, And caught things from a horror show… I’d gladly settle for a false impression, If it would last a little longer, though.” - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

Little girl in a grown up gown

Little girl in a grown up gown
all the world’s a masquerade
a fairy tale fantasy brought to life
from the tortured depths of your lonely imagination

Five pence admittance to the masked horror show
and all the freaks of a nightmare circus
where stripper clown offer bare flesh to one eyed monsters
and mermaids drown in the feathered air
for the glory of three minutes mortal life

Cherry virgins on my salted lips
lighting clover cigarettes at lime tequila oasis
crushed pills on a gold laced glass
watch with eyes wide open
the debauchery you could never lay down the words for

Take my hand and we’ll dance among the ghost procession
waltzing our way to the end of the line
in the bittersweet ecstasy of sinful promises
broken at stroke of midnight
as the clouds crumble under the silver rain
of eternal sadness and unrequited love
crushed cherries slipping into the misted earth

Don’t you know it’s all a dream, you can wake up any time

Little girl in a grown up gown
all the world’s a masquerade
a fairy tale fantasy brought to life
from the tortured depths of your lonely imagination

Kiss my lips, tonight’s the night to end it all
and slip between the veil of life and death
for a taste of the other side
where we’ll float together
beautiful and young
singing hymns to lonely hearts
calling them down to our sullied depths
where all the world’s a masquerade

Cirque De Mourge.
Dying to meet you little child, enter enter this sideshow
Once upon a time in a daymare.
13 chimes on a dead man's clock, tick - tock, tick - tock, tick - tock,
Time for bed the cradle still rocks.
Your dear innocence boiled to feed the evil in need of fear
The bride will lure you, cook you eat you.
                       Burning farms , squealing pigs
A pool of snakes to swim with, oh sweet poison bite me bite me
" Be heartlessly welcome !
Ladies and gentleman
To Cirque De Mourge
And what a show we have for you tonight"
Mindless ghouls with a lot of limbs to lose
Illusions, contortionist.
Restless souls will put on their dancing shoes
Tightrope - walkers tightening the noose.
Laughing harpies with their talons ripping, sher- chrisss, per- vizzz . Horde of spiders, closet tentacles . Such are the darks here to show you, child  in a corner. The pendulum still sways for you.Fallen mirrors, all kingdom in cinders. Masquerad

Welcome to the Circus

It's a crazy show thats what we payed for
the actors take the stage
our minds melt to the floor
the magic on your tongue fades away
I hope you enjoy your stay
the masquerade's today

So watch them dance around in your head
you'll never sleep again
lay all those dreams down to bed
let's just drink to not being sure
what they have in store
the masquerade is at our door
