The Stars

Of the stars but not celebrities or little green men please.

Write under 400 words, can be one word if you wish.

My only other rule is please enjoy yourself, unless you must write out your pain this is also accepted, Hope it helps.

I Can See Neptune        (SP Summerscales)


Walking along
I can see Neptune ,
shining really strong
above the dusted moon ,
new words of a song
they come rushing through ,
Mars is blushing too
my steps they rush , one , two
on this lush balloon ,
I so miniscule
take a lasting breath ,
of the large see through
atomic molecules ,
what is my effect
and what do I turn to
some energy renewed ,
selectional , directional
complexity , terrestrial
we burn to be from the big sol
then you are me
we're spent then gone
none entity's in spherical
and then there's bi-dimensional
as my mind try's to take it all
my eyes do see
why I am small  .

Hello ,
infinity night
your dead out there
although ,
I get your light .

It's lonely here
below the stratosphere
were nowhere near
but to me your clear
am I in your sights .

You became my friend ,
your dark
you listen
dogs bark
street lights glisten ,
no end
to your mission
you bend
comprehension
can I lend
some vision
to tend
my dimension
the other end
of the spectrum
you aprehend
all to be done .

So once again
hello my friend
you've always been there
you breathe
without air
I see you
when there's nothing there ,
no feet
but you get everywhere .

So when we meet
I hope that you still care .

Inner Space   (SP Summerscales)

The continual baffling  
of endless time
the spent is amassing
anti matter from light
the present a passing
in a gone time
we live a yesterday
as tomorrow will die .

We live in a measurement
by our sun
which is irrelavent
past this zone
thoughts produce none particle space
in this nothing we deduce
a something of less weight
we only believe what we can understand
through this we deceive
the movement of man
nothing and something
together they face  
the nothing is more
as it is inner space .

Story of the Stars


I was caught on a sleepless night,
With nightmares on the fold,
And so went out to the gardens,
Where the stars, a story told.

They took pity on my fright,
And so began to tell their story,
A fanciful artwork,
Of pain and fear and glory.

“Why would I wish to hear of pain,
When my horrors are still new?”
They simply laughed and said:
“Worry naught, there is love here too.”

Their voices blurred together,
Upon this starlit lullaby,
They told of all their seeing,
From way up in the sky.

They whispered secret knowings,
Of truth and lies yet found,
And chanted softly,
Of how the world spun round and round.

They spoke of war and famine,
They sang of joy and mirth
They shared their mourning of all the deaths,
And rejoiced with all the births.

I settled down beneath the sky,
And let the stars sing me to sleep,
I knew beneath their watchful gaze,
My dreams would properly keep.

And when I woke, I was full of knowledge,
The language of the stars,
That granted me an open window,
That to most held only bars.

And so every night I sank to sleep,
Listening to them sing,
Oh, how I wished I could thank them,
For the peace they seemed to bring.

This is an older poem of mine. I've entered it in another contest but a winner was never picked... I'll put it here for a second shot


SORROW FOR THE STARS

As a little child
I loved to stare up at the moon
Imagining what it would be like
To sit and watch the blue planet
Rise on the horizon
 
 
I wished for nothing more at that time
Then to be up in the sky
Ride upon a shooting star
That would take me to a magical land
Created just for me
 
 
I used to tell you how I loved that moon
How the silver light would guide me
As I walked down the beaten dirt road
On those teary nights
When nowhere was the only place to go
 
 
Orion was my hero
He helped me through the nights
Shielded me with his six stars
I felt safer when he was in my skylight
I knew pain would only be distant
 
 
Now, I just wish they would go away
 
 
My love for them is not lost
It will always be there
But some love causes great sorrow
A stab deeper than words
 
 
Now every time I look to the heavens
And spot Orion defending in the skies
Or see the luminescent moon
I can't help but cry
Finding it hard to breath
 
 
A sharp pain goes through my chest
As if a screw is being twisted in
Deeper and deeper it imbeds itself
Until it is so far in
That it cannot be removed
 
 
I don't want the light of the moon
To be my guide any longer
I wish night would drape over me
Like black silk over
A gypsy's shew stone
 
 
The comfort I once found
In the expansive twilight
Has been replaced by a feeling
That is worse than being held under water
Or being burned by fire
 
 
Now, I just wish they would go away
 
 
Because they remind me of you
Of how you will never be next to me
To hold my hand in yours
And admire their beauty
Together.

One In A Million

A fool you're burning for feeling a yearning
to be a shooting star,
to race across the sky only to die,
to strike something bigger than yourself and cease.

Unfolding the map 'til you get lost in the crease.
A map to show you which star is yours in that sparkling night sky.
The selfsame star that feels a yearning to race
all the others to the goal of just being noticed.

But ending up only pushing yourself too hard and too far
and end up burning up in the atmosphere,
when all you have to do is shine.

Well I wrote it for another contest but the girl who ran the contest forgot to ever come back, so I guess this is where it was supposed to go all along.


Gravity


Attraction is
a provability
the tether
the strange force at a distance
that holds all together
as it falls disparate
and tangent
to the ground
to the moon
to the sun.
 
Strangely attracted children
hear and infer
the ice cream truck
by its song and its route
because space is curved
by desire.
 
We sit at the edge
of a tree line
within the faint arc of porch light
watching cold blacknight warped
into warm galactic flows.
Though we each began as separate stars
our paths at last approached and circled
as they have since countless times
and yet they never wed.
 
I have known you
since you were lightning and I the air you parted,
since we were water and the wind drew us in,
since you were sunlight and I sealed in amber,
you were jasmine and I the fallen dew.
We teased, we courted, we played unhurried.
We seeped among the leaves.
We rose to our adjacent clouds.
We lay in wait in the abyssal hills.  
We died and bloomed and crystallized
but were always released anew from the fire.
 
I cannot watch you pass again this time
cannot release you back to the flow that washed us
finally here
cannot stay silent, cannot stop shaking, cannot find words or thoughts for anyone but you and yet you make it clear
I cannot have you.
You have no memory of this passionate force
that binds me
close but never reaching.
My petitions carry no such weight
in your center
trapped here by the burden
of my own gravity.
 
Though worlds may pass
and new be built ten thousand times
before we get this chance again
each alive with voice and passion,
still you and I will rise from here
and as I’ve always known
you’ll return to that perpetual path
 
out
away from my side.

The Stars

The stars they shine tonight
twinkling bright
they shine their light
in the shades of twilight.

They twinkle on
over friends and foe
over believers
and animists

They twinkle for all
the good the bad
the earthy and the wild
Stars are fair that way

Under the stars
I do so long
to hold you and kiss
our lips sealing our promises.

Starlight, star bright
let me hold my love tonight
let me feel his embrace tight
under the shining stars of twilight.

THE ENDLESS SKY

My lover and I

Embracing under the endless sky

Hidden cove, no lights

Sandy shore

Midnight

Constellations we point out

The stars twinkle

As if to say

Lovers, love while you may

For you are but a speck of sand

In GOD and NATURE'S grand plan

When you love

The love between you

Ignites a spark of love on the run

Thus cupid's arrow may be charged

And lovers find each other

Which is so hard

So gentle lover

Make love to me

Under the skies

Near the sea

The love we make

Will reach the stars

The stars in turn

Will touch other pairs

To fall in love

To really care
