Like The Shadows

Like the shadows chasing the light
You make my heart take flight
Not from joy and happiness
But from sorrow and anguish

Once you were my light
Shining ever so bright
Now you're the shadows that try
To suffocate me and make me cry

I try to break free
But you won't let go of me
Just like the shadows chasing
the light
You chase me to end my life

Toxic , Wasted , Mental Sea

Shadows
of my former self
an overdose
to give me hell
they call
to remind me
hey paul
this is what you used to be
why fall
from what you could've been
your wall
has been rubbed out clean
why call
to those who just can't see
hey paul
you must remember me
in that toxic , mental
wasted sea .

Along the road
I lost my way
the ride I strode
got towed
away
my connection
my code
a scrambled afray
a robotic mode
repeats the day
somehow I know
I'll find a way
of making it alone
in a rainbowed ray
with my kids here at home
I can safely say
I can laugh
I can roam
shadow free
in the hay .

Barabbas
the shadow of the motherless
chasing the light of He who was the Son of
history's most wondrous mother.
the one born to a girl expelled from a brothel
gazing upon her son, spitting on him and saying
God damn you to hell,  child, then dying.
He was to be executed. Who died in the stead of the motherless?
Was it.. the son of the Greatest of Mothers and The Father Eternal?
Did He seem to say.. "Forget whet your mother said to you before she died, Barabbas."

- A Waltz of Light and Shadow -

Shadows haunt the wild places of green lands…
Where I recall the fading light as in divine hands.

In the in between hours when golden is the hue,
Of those shafts which shoot like arrows betwixt…
The trees of the forest where the fair folk dwell;
I died spy an uncanny glow, of gentle azure blue.
For, the woods I walked in were so bewitched…
That they were oft the talk of the folk in the dell!
Oh how that glow ensnared my will and kept me,
Walking on paths that seemed enchanted, verily.

A lesser soul would have thought it unwise, yet:
I was bound to follow my course until it had run…
Into the darkness where the shadows did chase,
The light, from where between the trees it crept.
I did behold, where it was that glow had begun…
Which had so captivated me, with its’ pale face.
For in a grove of willow trees, a lady did dance,
Of fey kindred, she, who did so sweetly prance.

I did join her in her folly, more a fool I for this…
And yet in her dark waltz, I found a truer bliss!

There shall come a time,
When the world shall flood,
With the false light of man.
There shall come a shadow,
Destroying,
But also protecting.
Like the Hindu's Shiva,
Diety of destruction,
But also of protection.
It shall be the moons shadow.
Chasing away the burning light,
That seeks to harm you.

- The Mind of the Shadow -

In ancient halls of stone, where lay the altar of gold…
The shadow was thick upon that place of old worship.
No souls came from far home, seeking here to atone!
And the light was chased quick, from a font wet, slick,
With the water that once was holy, and now less so…
When the night came fast, and a colder wind did blow.
The stone did not know, what brought the chill below,
But it did cause: even the clinging ivy, to die as it froze.

What brought such a pall, upon that once sacred hall?
A shadow darker by far, than those which there are…
Of a want to come to call, when the first leaves do fall.
When high is the evening star, the dark comes to mar,
From places intangible and deep, you can hear it full…
The voice of the blackness, so loud even when so still!
Bleakly haunting with some primal intellect to thus fill…
Every space wherein it could creep, the light to so kill!

Mayhap that is why no one prays out there any longer,
Whilst that mind behind the shadow so grows stronger.

-Scale of Balance-

light
bright light
the light of evil, life
and false pretences

light is the evil force that is what we fear at night
light that infects everything it touches
light is the vile force that kills all
there is only one force that can stop light, and that is shadow

the shadow makes me feel at home
the shadows are the enforcers of the universe
the shadows of love, death,
truth and honor

the Shadow Enforcers, and the Council of Light
these are the forces of the universe that are constantly at war
they are opposites
they are equal

light is indeed more powerful
but the shadows are more presistant
that is why the shadows chase the light
to keep the Scale of Balance equal

Where light is lost

A place tucked safe
in the deepest valley
Snow covered tracks
lead the lost to see

The iced over lakes
distort my reflection
No sun is rising
Moon maps direction

A tideless stale land
Growthless of beauty
Soils rich in sorrow
No wind pays duty

In me, a haunt
Days gobbled by night
I sleep to return where
Shadow chases light

Outside The Light    (SP Summerscales)

You tore out the air
which supplied my heart
then you left me there
to slowly fall apart ,
saturday lies
even week nights
you'd look in my eyes
outside the light

Remembering , wandering
the back streets of our years
my everything , squandering
a reduction to tears .

You turned to cast
like a hollow thing
I burned to ash
in a molten ring
the kids did ask
for you to bring
yourself back home
to hope we'd cling .

Off the wall
so desperately
I did so fall ,
descent , gravity
down I went painfully
to cracked cement , a cavity
you walked , hell bent
away from me
how could you dent
our family
these babies were sent
from the heavens to me
how could you have spent
what comes for free .
