Deliverance
She was sleepwalking through the night
Her soulless body anguishing in the dark
But in her dead eyes she was not of this world
As her tormentors screamed and chastised
Sal de este cuerpo!
The preacher shouted at the top of his lungs
Salte demonio!
While the others around spoke in tongues
Yo te reprendo!
With faith they screamed in the night
Vete de aqui!
In the warm and tropical heat
The room suddenly turned cold
It was a fight against damnation
Their miracle lyrical prayers prayed
A supplication for salvation
All night…
Her frail and petite body looked deserted
Covered in sheets to protect her nakedness
As the sinners hollered at the aberration
Reprimanding spirits for her liberation
All night…
But then she went into sudden convulsions
Confirming the wicked presence’s disposition
As they blessed her and read to her scriptures
But there was something else to this picture
All night…
The preacher man went on a torrent of heaven sent words
Believing he could free her from this possession
But there are things - that are not meant to be understood
As there are secrets that sometimes become obsession
All night…
They clamored…
Praying against vile evil spirits that tortured her with veiled desires
With fire…
And brimstone…
They spoke of and proclaimed deliverance
It was a small and secluded town
A place that didn’t understand modern medicine or natural attraction
Fueled by mass hysteria and maybe prone to the power of suggestion
It was later revealed that although she had certain wayward proclivities
She was suffering from depression caused by unreciprocated love, drugs
And epileptic seizures
Her soulless body anguishing in the dark
But in her dead eyes she was not of this world
As her tormentors screamed and chastised
Sal de este cuerpo!

Fatal Ocean Lullaby
Take me, tides of green
Let me sail a broken sea
Into a fog so cold and bleak
No lighthouse dare shine its love on me
Rock this ship like a hurricane should
Awaken these bones of rotten wood
Sweep my shoreline
Kill the kelp
Pull the seaweed
And stomp each shell
I don’t need treasure or gold
I need death to tighten its ocean hold
Drown me, tides of black
Destroy the boat, and take me back
Like a siren who calls its lover home
Send me crashing on cliffs with your fatal wave song
Let me sail a broken sea
Into a fog so cold and bleak
No lighthouse dare shine its love on me
Rock this ship like a hurricane should
Awaken these bones of rotten wood
Sweep my shoreline
Kill the kelp
Pull the seaweed
And stomp each shell
I don’t need treasure or gold
I need death to tighten its ocean hold
Drown me, tides of black
Destroy the boat, and take me back
Like a siren who calls its lover home
Send me crashing on cliffs with your fatal wave song

Hi everyone. Thank you very much for taking part in this poetry competition. It was not an easy subject and we, the readers and 'judges' had a hard time picking the winners. To me you are all winners but the top three are:
1. Dancing in Hell by inechoingsilence
2. Deliverance by Wallyroo92
3. Fatal Ocean Lullaby by Thetravelingfairy
Thank you so much for being with me. I hope to see you in my next competition.
