World Poetry Day

Thank you to everyone who participated in World Poetry Day!  It's always lovely to see how people define poetry, especially when limited to one sentence!

Billy - Hands down we felt yours took it.  Congratulations to England for the Gold! 🌍 🏆

Tim - You came in a very close second.  Congratulations to America for the Silver 🌎 🏆

Jade - Yours possessed an aesthetic beauty that complimented the words. Congratulations to America for the Bronze! 🌎 🏆

Cold One - Yours was succinct and profound; however, Jade barely nudged you out.  Congratulations to Australia for Honorable Mention! 🌏 📝

Rose, I loved how you slid into home plate at the 11th hour! Fabulous! 📝

Of course including the country was just for fun, as it's the poet that creates the rhyme. However, being it was World Poetry Day, we thought it would be fun to include that aspect.

Congrats to Billy, Tim and Jade; and everyone who took a moment or two or twenty to honor Poetry! 🏆🏆🏆  

Firstly, thank you to Ahavati for hosting such an interesting & challenging theme & for declaring me the winner, which doesn't happen often! It was nice of you also to go further down the list to note other great poets such as cold_fusion for example. I felt my sentence should try & include a 'unite the world with poetry' aspect.
Well done to JusTim_ & Jade-Pandora also for their poetic messages; it's nice to be sharing this podium with you guys. Poetry means different things to different people as we can see.

I not only enjoyed getting in touch with my inner wordsmith for what I would say about what poetry means to me (which is truly a challenge to contain in a mere sentence), it was like writing a haiku, tanka or senryu. But also, to witness for many other testimonials in verse in a miriad of colors - as lights refracted and shooting out from facets of a single magnificent gem...

Sage, what a wonderful theme to base this competition on, thank you.

And my congratulations to my podium runner-up buddy Tim, and a special round of cheers to Billy - on the occasion of garnering his first DUP writing trophy, well done!

It’s time now to party! But for those of us who in a short few days will be taking on the NaPo, our time of merriment will be brief, as we prepare for an ultimate challenge.

So those who can only stand and watch, come cheer us on in fellowship through the month of April !

Whilst I hate to knock down newer threads with older ones, I am pleased to announce that Webmiss has created a #WorldPoetryDay theme; therefore, if you could please edit your entries and add that theme - it would be awesome.

As NaPoWriMo, World Poetry Day theme will be curated by myself and be an annual competition.
