- Crypt of the Child -

Whilst walking through the streets of a small town,
Exploring the places that I once had called home...
I came to a cold, dark avenue with no one around,
And the night wind chilled my flesh unto the bone.
The street on one side ran along the railroad tracks,
On the other it ran past lands of green, wet marsh.
Another road lay before it, old and filled of cracks,
But I shall speak of the corner, a place very harsh.
In darkness wrapped, and old mysteries shrouded,
A house on a hill was built there in days now past.
Far from the city lights and the places oft crowded,
The silence of that place, could even eternally last.

I passed near the hill and the terrible house above,
Walking along the old foundations, with curiosity...
Though no living spirit now did live, nor know love,
In the halls of that house, there was a quiet dignity.
Outside, where I walked into the yards overgrown,
Past rusted swings where once children did play...
A little girl with jet hair, wearing a frilly white gown,
Regarded me, with eyes that glowed bright as day.
I asked her to tell me her name; but she was silent,
Putting her hands in mine, she led me on lost paths.
Her hands were as ice, and strange was her intent,
Far too somber was she, as one who never laughs!

We passed brambles and willows so old and bent,
That the paths seemed: dark tunnels of dying trees.
Down was our road, and wherein the hillside went,
An opening I noted, haunted by a moaning breeze.
Iron, was the gate that barred the way to darkness,
With a lock rusted closed, for so very many years...
Undone, by the touch of that girl in the white dress,
So that we could enter; and therein she wept tears.
I saw a marble sarcophagus, which bore no names,
Nor dates of mortal birth or final death, thereupon.
The child opened the lid, her eyes but dying flames,
As she lay down there to sleep: her playtime done.

I then was standing, right before that metallic gate,
Which was as locked as it had been, since raised...
I looked up at the stars, and saw the hour was late,
As I walked the paths back, feeling oddly amazed.
It was lonely by myself, and I missed the girl ghost,
For dark was the way, and long without company.
Yet, as I neared the house’s front porch, and post,
I saw the little girl playing with a ball, most merrily.
Leaving her to her solitude, I looked up at the sky,
My eyes on the moon: as pale as the ghost’s flesh.
Pondering the tragic brevity of life, I let myself cry,
For a little girl I knew not, when her life was fresh!

- 'Neath the Moon -

'Neath the moon, amidst the tangled branches of wooded lands,
There lay: some rugged ruins, as desolate as lost desert sands.
Once in times past, this was a castle mighty as a rugged cliff...
Where lived lords and ladies, whose spirits now are cast adrift.
Still they dance in that place, when the stars align in their ways,
Pale green shades 'neath the moon, dancing 'till the end of days.
You can see them in those hours, if you look with the inner eye,
But they are lost now to all the world, so look well if you do try!
Only elfin folk could recall their names, and their kingdom of old,
Past the count of human history, and of past and future foretold.
If the animals could talk, they too could tell you many a wild tale,
But they too are silent in their wisdom, of which none may avail.

'Neath the moon, I have explored the silent places recounted so,
And 'lo, have seen the dancing shades when the moon sinks low.
In wild abandon with the fair folk I have joined in their mad waltz,
And cannot speak of all they showed me, within their noble halls.
I stood before their ancient kings, and timeless queens so pale...
That their pallor was like the white cloth, of ships gone out to sail.
They played their harps and their treasures I saw, fading in color,
For they were not of this realm, but rather of a place of wonder.
Ever clothed in mists as fine as their blue and emerald garments,
Sparkling to hide their sorrows, shining to disguise all torments.
Tarry not in elfin realms, for soon enchantments must ever pass,
And where they go we cannot know, they go beyond all compass.

'Neath the moon, you can see the hounds running across the heather,
Whilst thunderous winds pound the earth and foul is the weather.
Spectral beasts led by a huntsman whose name I cannot speak...
For he hunts the dead who escape his realm, shades grown weak.
Yet cunning in their weakness, they come to the ruins to gather,
Whilst the hounds draw ever closer, as their jaws eternally slaver.
Whilst wraiths roam amidst the oaks, their forms darkly hooded...
The dead escape the hunter's spear, amidst lands thickly wooded.
No architect could plan such a stage for spectacles such as these,
For this world is older than we know, and yet filled with mysteries.
Go about into the wild places, and see with eyes as children shall,
You will behold more than you know, and have such tales to tell.

- Night of the Drowned -

By rugged paths through the woodlands green,
In younger years I walked often there between…
The yellow flowers that grew by the sad pond,
Which never stirred, save by breath of beyond…
And the darker forests where old spirits played,
Near ruins where once-lost folk piously prayed!
Complete was the lonely majesty of that domain,
So indifferent to human desires, dreams, or pain!
Alone I walked, like a spirit haunting a dwelling…
Familiar from some past days: oddly compelling.
What enchantment bore me hither I’ll not know!
Better to ask the wind why it was born to blow.

Ere night had fallen I beheld sights so uncanny,
Brought to this world by some ghostly company.
To speak of them is like to treat of some dream,
Wherein one may know delights but also scream.
Oh silent waters, what was reflected within you?
If only they could speak, the waters faded blue!
Perhaps terror keeps them silent, unable to tell…
The secrets they witnessed, of Heaven and Hell.
Mayhap sometimes fear is brought on by delight,
So profound, that it keeps one in an eternal night.
If you ask the waters, they shall not tell you this…
For they are lost, either in silence or infinite bliss!

Beneath the crescent moon, a goddess’s crown,
Yellow flowers become white, as winter’s gown.
As colorless as the faces looking up from under…
Whilst in the sky cracked a loud clap of thunder.
The drowned ones who dwell down in the murk,
Saw me peering at the waters wherein they lurk!
I looked away unable to bear each bloated face,
Lost in the depths trapped far from God’s grace.
I felt the touch of someone behind me, just then…
Turning around to see a beautiful ghostly maiden.
She passed through me, wading out in the deep,
To drown herself anew, where no fish will creep!

The Bride

Dressed in a gown of white,
veil hung over her face.
Blood dripping down on side of her face.
Face, arm and side. . . destroyed.
She stands in front of the door,
follows me down hallways.
Sings me lullabys so that I cannot sleep.
Corrupts my dreams.
I've seen her in the corner,
reading my books.
Humming her songs.
Crying for her sorrows.
She is unpredictable.
But she is not a danger.
She is dead.
But not evil.
A wandering ghost not ready to pass on.
Not a demon or an evil spirit that wants to cause me harm.

She followed me from the apartment,
appeared in my friends house.
And not she is in the hotel room that I stay in now.
Her skin is transparent, almost blue.
How did she die?
Chopped up with an axe?
I do not know.
My room the only one she would not enter.
But my dreams she would haunt.
Her songs would wake me up and send chills down my spine.

One night she appeared in my dream.
And staring face to face with her.
II couldn't breathe.
For some unexplained reason.
What did she want from me?
I woke with a sudden jolt.
And was slammed down onto my bed.
I had been suspended in air.
I had been floating.
Tears prick at my eyes.
And I started to cry.

She's not the one that I have seen since.
Others have appeared and done worse things than she has.
She is harmless I would assume.
But when she stands as still as a statue
in a dark room.
I just don't know. . .

Can you trust a ghost?
Especically a dead bride,
that may or may not have been murdered
by hurtful or loving hand?

She may be reading this over my shoulder right now.
She's done that too.
Maybe interesting by my technology
or just curious to what I'm doing.
I am going to stop talking about her.
Before she gets mad at me.
I would like to sleep tonight

Far into the horizon – there goes the mushroom cloud

What might have been a peaceful settlement did not work out

Sucked on his cigarette and cursed the day he was born

Then flicked the butt away and looked at the horizon once more

Walked slowly into the woods – back into the secret physics lab

This is where it all began – this is where they tickled the dragon’s tail

Wished it never happened

the end of me

my heart beats so slow
as i lay flat on my back
been here for a while
from the heart attack
family come see me
one by one they cry
the last words are spoken
just before i die
my breath leaves my mouth
like a tribute to my life
my eyes close, so tired
time to see my wife
as i rise above the bed
i see myself lie dead
with family and doctors
standing around my bed
time for me to leave
this place i once called home
to the heavens up above
a new place for me to roam
i become part of all
the galaxies, time and stars
then i begin to fall
i descend to a empty plain
wher a man stands and waits
just behind him about ten feet tall
is the pearly gates
i walk slowly with my head held high
and greet the man so old
suddenly my soul starts to shake
my everything turns cold
leave this place and go on home
your duty is not done
my eyes open and i see hospital roof
another day has begun....

my deliverance

i sit upon my roof and i wish it all away
i can see myself struggling each and every day
every turn i have ever taken had a dead end at the end
who am i fooling no need to pretend
as i sit here wondering how to end it all
should i jump,should i just fall
my heart beats with such remorse
"you did it wrong of course!"
i shake my head knowing soon i'll be dead
let's end it all,enough said.....

a bright white light engulfs my whole
a voice speaks into my soul
"wait before you end it all"
be careful that's quite a fall"

i turn around and see an angel smile
"iv'e been here for a while"
listening to all your woes"
do you know who made your toes?"
"your head,your heart,your soul,your mind?"
all your life he's been so kind"

"when last did you say hi to him?"
or say sorry for your sin?"
did you go to his house on sunday?"
when last did you pray?"

and even through all of this"
not a single day in your life has he missed"
he's been there on your lonely days"
he's held your hand in darker ways"

so please look at me and tell me what you see!"

i take a deep breath and open my eyes
"i see God sent someone to calm my cries"
"perhaps today no one dies"
"i will save my goodbyes"

the angel speaks once again
tries to keep me sane

"listen my child i asked what do you see"
"you say im an angel standing here before thee?"
how can you not recognise me?"
OPEN YOUR EYES AND SEE!"

i look very close as i wipe my tears
my whole body is cleansed, no fears!
i see the holes in his hands
and in his feet as he stands

"my God how could i be this blind?"
my sadness has made me unkind
today i will turn my life around
with this new belief that iv'e found

"go forth an live like there is no tomorrow"
never agian speak to me of sorrow"
and when the day comes when you finally die
                                          say goodbye
                                          meet me in the sky...

darK
the powerful sound of the clock striking 12
posted dolls on dusty shelves
eye of newt and the sound of rain
death will slay whats not in pain
mind the crowd of whats not real
suddenly scared by what you feel
shocked by crows
and manicone pose, you will be surprised by what yee chose
by the first cock crow
the dark must go
back to hell till the next show
