Formatting

Would anyone be willing to give me some pointers or direct me to where I could learn more about vignettes, sonnets, structure, and such? I am self-taught and one of the most glaring things I have to learn is formatting.

If you want to learn to write formal verse (sonnets, ballads, triolets etc.), buy a copy of the 'Ode Less Travelled' by Stephen Fry. It's a workbook, and if you work your way through it you'll greatly increase your technical abilities. I've left links below to both the book itself and a review of it. It's well worth the small purchase price and there are loads of used copies available from the usual sources (abe, Thrift Books etc.). Give it a go. You won't be disappointed. 🙃
