Kindled ashes girdled by the twilight
in soft hands alchemy debauchery
scented melodies from decadent lips
in-lieu of a kiss and trinkets of lyrics
of innocence in a graveyard of symphonies
embracing a haunting crescendo
from the archives of a secret silhouette
in arabesque dripping goblets of red

In lieu of a kiss, I offered despair
A chalice of shadows, a whisper of air
For thirteen lost souls in twilight conspire
To dance ‘neath the gaze of a waning fire
The clock strikes the hour, a tolling refrain
As seven black candles drip wax like pain
With words of the dead and the breath of the night
I beckon the spirits to join in their flight
In silence they gather, as echoes persist
And the dark takes my heart in lieu of a kiss
In lieu of a kiss, I offered despair

In lieu of a kiss is the shading of bliss
Wanton, unruly and scattered
In lieu of a song is a silence, prolonged
In the naught, it’s the wisdom that’s shattered
In lieu of the lain on a wrath that will wane
From a spine that is measured as hollow
In lieu of a breath that is apt to be fresh
its the devil whose words we will swallow

Nothing Could I Feel
In the darkness, when the lights failed,
I heard voices, distant and strange.
Not the usual whispers of fear,
but words that lingered, cold and clear.
I struggled, unsure of where to go,
screaming in silence, no one to know.
The air was thick, the stillness deep,
a kiss hung close, a promise to keep.
A kiss should soothe, a taste should heal,
but in this void, neither could I feel.
