Flashing Lights

when the twilight is a fading glow
beacon of life tell a tale of woe
the star is now a distant light
the fading glow signaling night

once strong stark and bold
standing as a sentinel with stories told
of bravery with audacious breath
never minding there lurks death

dances of love rhythmic embrace
not seeing shadows on fragile face
moments not seen, lost and found
thinking love last forever no end

with the zenith of the sun
reaper will make his stand  
a smile a wink and a guiding hand  
he takes us forward to the inevitable end

'Hey, Grace! Give Me a Bump Start!' 👒

There's just no petrol in the tank tonight.
The battered poem simply will not go.
It sits inert, its engine saying 'No!'
refusing every pleading to ignite.
The fuel of inspiration's locked up tight
behind a door. The key? He doesn't know.
Though everywhere he's searched, both high and low,
it stubbornly remains far out of sight.
So, is the poem doomed, and not to start,
its driving life come to a sorry end?
Will not its wheels begin to turn again?
Will now it rust, then sadly fall apart,
a broken wreck, impossible to mend?
But then it's done! He grins, puts down his pen. 🙃

Bump Start

hi there let our laughter rolls  
let us giggle and be playful souls  
let's talk about bums and bumps  
just be happy and silly with joyful jumps  

there's bums and wiggle
there's bums that jiggle
the coins they collected on a sunny day
and bums that bounce and sway    

then there are bumps on muddy trails  
bumps made by roots in jungle paths
bumps that hurts when head meet wood
bumps on noses aquiline or snub

shall we bump the bum
or make him scram
should we make him sing
or sit on our bum together cling

are our bums with bumps
gathered from childhood glory
will we hear the sad bum
tell his story

One for you and me, darling 💐🙃

There was a young poet named Grace,👒
exceedingly pretty of face,
she met up with me
and as quick as can be
we wrote poems all over the place.🖋️😎🖊️

Wherever our Muse leads the way,
we follow, we just like to play. ⚽
With rhythm and rhyme,
we have a good time 💃🎊🎉
and – er – laugh at the end of the day. 🙃

To write with her's just like a dream, 🛏️
together, we're the perfect team, ⚖️🐏
I'm glad that I've met her,
there's no poet better, 🏆
this girl is the cream of the cream. 👒

The Nights and the Lights
...those are nice songs, nostalgic. Thanks for the acknowledgement in your poems. You're me best poem-buddy

do you remember the glitter and groovy flair  
bell-bottoms swish colours long hair
the disco ball twirls brightening up our eyes
boogie down and again nights of saturdays

the singer shouts her tunes
derived from lyrics on vinyl stack
we dance on our platform  
shoes, singing with the lyric's track
 
we shimmy and shake daring and bold
through the night a sight to behold
we discoed together to night's end
oh yes sir we could boogie

just a memory way back

'Are you dancin', babes?' 💃🕺

She looked sexysweet in her sparkly blue dress,
'You dancin'?' he asked her, and – Wow! – she said, 'Yes.'
He couldn't believe that a girl such as she –
so lovely! – would dance with a scruff such as he.

She seemed like a princess, with raven-black hair,
of all of the dancers the sexiest there,
and then when she smiled and she gave him her hand
he felt like he'd entered a new wonderland.

Well, eagerly, up on the floor they both got,
the rhythms were pumping, the music was hot,
they bumped with their bums and they bumped with their hips,
they bumped with their tummies and did a few dips,

then movin' and groovin' they swung to the beat,
together as one on their quick flashing feet,
as whirlin' and twirlin' in passionate dance
the two became lost in a boppin' love trance;

but then the beat changed, and the music was slow,
and 'Yes!' was the only word they could now know,
so then with a feeling he couldn't disguise
he held her so closely and drowned in her eyes;

he knew without thinking that she was the one,
and she knew it too, all her doubts were now gone,
and all of the disco then ceased to exist
as moving in rhythm the two lovers kissed.

The disco then ended, but it was too soon.
He walked his girl home by the light of the moon,
and when with a sigh they arrived at her door:
'Fancy a coffee?' then they danced a bit more. 🙃

Feeling Groovy
...the disco days. So long ago...envied the big girls then

disco lights in the heart of the night
the colours pulse in rhythm
blazing canopy of electric light
laughter and spinning dreams

lost in the music bodies sway
like waves in a vibrant shimmering sea
nothing seems to be on the way
of tomorrow's reality for you and me

each flash and flicker bold love ignite
as we embrace the thrills wildly tender
we race through the night
with desire showing all its might

then dawn whispers with years colours fade  
reality strikes and wisdom slowly emerge
the urge to move on like shadows in shade  
but our hearts dance on
