Hi folks-- this comp is likely going to have to go to vote, after it ends in a few weeks from now, so it maybe a while before a winner is declared.  Keep that in mind if you're writing for this one.  Thanks!

To Write a Sonnet or Not to Write

To write a sonnet or not to write…tight
The question is...can you stick to the form?
If you do participate in this rite…right
Then you best be prepared for a brain...storm

Old Shakespeare used to spill his ink with ease
For some it takes years to improve the art
But to be clear it’s not always a breeze
When the rhymed lines come straight from the heart

You just have to practice and exercise
While you’re at it add some wordplay and pun
Proofread and comprise, edit and revise
Then you’ll see composing sonnets is fun

So step up to the plate and take a swing
Don’t linger too long and write the damn thing

Congratulations Wally!

It's a great sonnet, and great advice for more!
