Poetry Contest

Write a new poem about something you'd like your fellow dup poets to hear about you. Be as confessing and open as you'd like. No limit on length. My poem: Traumatically Windblown, shown below is about my struggle with psychosis. Good luck!

Traumatically Windblown

Psychosis carried in the gales,
for I am surely windblown,
windward from my own psyche,
where boundaries of reality have eroded.

With concealed hands,
a nonvisual hallucination caresses
the encasement of my soul,
provoking verbal responses.

Nothingness which wreathes around me,
a curve in a state of nonexistence
meandering around my body.
The compass of my soul spins.

Following the scent of nothing,
I steer into my own deception -
into an opaque fog,
distorting my perception.

Blind to this lightless entity -
blind itself to me.
I can now see the unknown,
camouflaged into what I hallucinate.

"Symphonic Emptiness"

In chambers dim where sunlight fears to tread
A weary soul lies bound by heavy lead
The days drift by in shadows dull and pale
A lifeless wind, an ever-fading sail

No fire stirs within the hollow breast
No passion’s flame, no longing, no unrest
Just empty hours that linger, crawl, and creep
A prisoner of thoughts that never leap

The morn arrives with all its golden hue
But light feels distant, skies are painted blue
The world a canvas, blank and colorless
Each breath drawn shallow, heavy with distress

No joy in laughter, music, or the sky
Just muted echoes passing softly by
The heart beats slow, a drum that’s lost its song
A silent march that feels so starkly wrong

The mind adrift on seas of dull refrain
Where nothing soothes, and nothing ends the pain
The soul entangled in a web so tight
Apathy’s grip, a never-ending night

What once was cherished now feels worn and gray
The hours blend, the seasons melt away
A voice inside that used to shout and sing
Now whispers faintly, scarcely anything

No battle fought with swords or shields of steel
But silent wars that numb and never heal
A struggle not with hate or burning rage
But with the empty script on life’s dull stage

O cruel apathy, thou thief of heart and mind
What cure exists for bonds so intertwined?
For in this quiet, cold, and listless trance
The soul doth yearn for just another chance

spitted

there is no distance that the word does not travel
there is no word that in a tear is not oozing
or that in a braided breeze does not smell spring
or stay quiet floating in a sea of gray greenish blues

there is no place for tears in the wet body of the sea

time has a beautiful body that we can't touch
sublimates in silences such as the gull flying
swallows our moments as if they were nothing

there is no place for tears in the wet body of the sea

memory lives in a cave by the brink of a luxurious brothel
makes us dreaming of pledges of gods in men's mouths

there is no place for tears in the wet body of the sea

Hope that help will come?

Tap left on, of self thats drained
a mesh of scars to dull the pain
to fool yourself and feel the numb
a fading dream that help will come!

Feel winter chill in summers heat
as black clouds o`r the mind do creep
I fight and fight, but just succumb
and prey alone that help will come

Wild dragon lives within my veins
when exatacy is short attained
the dollar bill, its laughs in fun
my urgent screams that help will come

Rocket fire to a distopian abyss
caverns and maze is where I now exist
who`ll throw a rope to a drowning bum?
desperate for any help to come

Tentacals encircled grip, skin that crawls
dark fathoms, ghouls and monsters spawn
through a bloodshot world I run
away from any help that comes

Fall Into Sleep

Falling to the ground, Big Bang,
That's the sound.
A big man balancing on a tricycle,
Dancing like a clown.
High in the Sefirot trying not to drop.
Opened my mouth couldn't get it to stop.
Pressure boiling in with hot steam,
Makes my ears pop.
The fish in the sky are going dry.
Start to flip flop.
High on my mind wasting time on the clock.
I'm in decline, getting behind, still in line,
Want fame from the tick tock.
The grandfather signs spirals and shines,
Brightens my nights with flaming rocks.
I need a familial chariot ride,
Need to hide my pride.
Still wishing for luck.
I'm alive but I wanna die,
No need to survive.
Hide the crime from Sherlock.
Detox my eyes from the lies.
The only way to humble,
Is to destroy what's inside.
Jacks are wild,
It's time to beat box.

Metamorphoses

The transformation from a
Walking to a wheeling person
Opened the gate to a
Dark night of the soul

How I missed dancing
Playing volleyball
Riding my bike and
Roaming the woods!

Shame swallowed me
Self-pity drowned me in tears
Self-hatred got the best of me
Failure threw me into an abyss

Looking into the mirror
I saw a weak disabled body
Craving desperately my attention
Merciless I turned away

When I was at my lowest
An angel in the shape of a man
Stepped into my life and reminded me
Not to reduce myself to this body

Meaningful conversations
Heart-centered poems and stories
Shared visions and dreams
Gave wings to my mind, body and soul

Step by step I learned to love myself
To see with the eyes of love and
To radiate loving kindness
The metamorphosis has just begun
