Guilty as Charged

she hid behind the blue curtains
peeping out at her fighting parents
their voices raised in raging anger
she wondered if they were ever tender

she slept behind the curtains
lullabied to sleep by thunderstorms
her hot face washed with tears
they went away and didn't miss her

Singing the Blues

she sat by the shore
feeling as blue
as the sand before her
matching the sky of azure

she couldn't find the whale
or the swordfish they were gone
she didn't feel well
she was so forlorn

Blue Waves

the pearly shells on the shore
broken in pieces yet still shone
reflecting the sunrays rainbow
sad sacrifice to beauty borne

she sat there contemplating the sea
how wide the ocean how glittery
the crests as far as eyes could see
it started to rain, she walked home, wearily

Light Blue Overall

Light blue overall
over the whiteness
of the skin beneath
he sat still unseeing

he saw within himself
the darkness of his soul
the foulness of his sins
he breathed, that's all

Loading

it spins and spins
as a spider spins its web
never loading never ends
just like a spinning wheel

I am s till loading
information in my brain
taxing aging memories
but one stays clear

I miss you
everyday

Magic

are there magic behind smiles
or wonder at the blueness of the skies
and why the leaves are green
or whether cows do dream

there is magic in the rain
sprinkling both flowers and weeds
raining on deserted lawns
resuscitating dried up seeds

the magic is in you and me
friendship spoken in honesty
knowing how we could be
but shunning all hypocrisy

Blue World

Blue was the name of his friend
a cat that stood by and waited
for him everyday, so patient
even when food was rationed

Blue sat by the bed
when he was sobbing with pain
snuggled warmth shared in winter
at times he forgot the firewood

Blue was mourned when he passed
alone on the floor away from the bed
he cried so hard, it broke his spirit
and I knew he would go soon too

Listening

I listened to the rumbling thunder
shivering under my thin blankets
they sounded like roars of anger
from above the grey sunset

I listened to the pouring rain
some running in from leaking roofs
into the monsoon drain
floods, storms and overflowing tanks

The harshness of his rule
is wrought in chickens guts,
and celebrated now in song
accompanied by ale butts.

Blue Cheese

the rat wanted to go to the moon
to eat and pack home some cheese
to last his family a whole month
maybe even a month and a few days

he stood up on the barn roof
and tried to reach out
he thought he almost touched it
and fell down to the ground below

Getting Better All The Time

The broken Rat sat on the beach,
his Ratgirl had just died,
and now the Moon he'd never reach,
no matter how he tried,

but then a Crab appeared and said:
'I'll get the Moon for you.'
She raised a claw above her head
and grabbed that Moon of Blue.

She gave the Moon to that poor Rat
and said, 'Here! Take this Moon.
It's made of Cheese and nice and fat,
I hope you cheer up soon.'

And then the broken Rat was glad
and gave the Crab a kiss,
forgetting that he had been sad,
and then they lived in bliss.

Serenading

she could sing many  songs
she sang a thousand lullabies
she sang them pure and strong
with many a sweet refrains

she sang about blue cats
and kettles that whistles
and candles on windows
and trains that blasted past

five hundred miles past
she heard the train horn blast
listen for the ship's fog horn
sitting at her window forlorn

She sat,
singing softly

and her Soul
heard her songs

Roasted Fish

Fish roasted on open fire
salads with grated cheese
sprinkles of pork fine cut
a bowl of cherry piled high

blue sea sparkle under the sun
people lying down to catch the warmth
there's rain fast approaching
she saw it in the distant sky

she sat and ate her picnic food
alone contented in nature's serenity
she finished and packed up
the storm broke as she entered her home
