Torn Flesh

Studied my painting
Top layer of flesh removed
It's pretty sky blue
Broken by jagged orange
The way life is
Positively jarring
Still pleasant a moment later
We sat outside at the cafe
In the passing summer sun
Enough humidity
Half spoken humility
We'll always find our way
The poets say so
I'm healing in your presence
Even with your shades on
Held in your stare
Notations in a notebook
Back at the Chamber
Conditional
Some flesh to repair

One of a kind

If I had to place
a label on me
Id brand myself
a living breathing mystery

Somewhere between
a good strong cup of coffee
before church on Sunday morning

And that lost or lonely Saturday night
one past too many,  shots of whiskey
you just can't keep from pouring

One of a kind
aging like yesterday's wine
strolling around with no sense of time
living like there's no tomorrow
up here in the mountains of Colorado
There ain't alot I haven't seen
not to much I've never done
I'll leave you to your thinking
while I'm trying to outrun the Sun

Don't worry about me
 I'm just having some fun
when it comes to being different
I swear it's like I'm the only one
Please try and take me as I come

Just like the wine
I'm on yesterday's time
 only one of a kind

Right in the middle of a god fearing man
and a hell raising boy ....
is right where I make
 my stand....

No I wouldn't earn a medal
 for being a man
but either way I'll keep on being
the way that I am

And even with a lot
 I wish I can undo
everyday is another chance to
stake my claim among the few

No one's ever called me a saint
 I suppose I'm real good
At not being something I ain't
What you see is what you get
once we meet I'm sure you won't be
 quick to forget
I'm walking that line
 just singing my rhyme

as far as I come, I found
Im only one of a kind

One of a kind
Strolling around with no sense of time
Up here in Colorado
Living like there's no tomorrow
Aging like yesterday's wine

There ain't much I haven't seen
There ain't alot I've never done
I'll leave you to your thinking
While I'm still trying to outrun the Sun

Don't worry about me
 I'm just having some fun
when it comes to being different
I swear I'm the only one
Please try and take me as I come

Cuz' just like the wine
I'm on yesterday's time
Only one of a kind

My daddy didn't raise no fool
Im not considered to be any kind of cool
don't spend too much of my time
on any one Ol bar stool

I come and go like the wind
as fast as I blew in
 just like that
 there I go again

No I won't say sorry
for the way the Lord made me
I guess it just adds to my mystery

No I won't change and
 I'll never stop
Doing my time
I'm only one of a kind

Now I've walked this walk for most of the years I've wondered this rock

Love Me or hate Me
it ain't really your fault
I'm doing things my way
and son that ain't ever gonna stop

There's one thing for certain
when they draw my final curtain
Only a few words can be spoken
about the man and his time
and that was
He was one of a kind

One of a kind
 aging like yesterday's wine
strolling around with no sense of time
Growing up here in Colorado
 living like there's no tomorrow

There ain't a lot I haven't seen
not too much I've never done
I'll leave you to your thinking
while I'm  still trying to outrun the Sun

Don't worry about me
 I'm just having some fun
when it comes to my kind of different
You can bet I'm the only one
Please try to take me as I come

 Just like that wine
brother I'm on yesterday's time
I'm only one of a kind!

The Comfort Of Stigmata’s Pain

Oh, how I wish it would rain
These are the times, when life has the meaning to wash away the calling of stigmatic’s pain
Somewhere I lost my self in the depth of that beautiful ocean
Only to be reborn again standing against the shore onto myself, reflective in its true devotion
The pulsate of the heart, found to connect mind to soul, trifold in the meaning of a beautiful piece of art
Unto man, he shall cleave until the thunder of earth
Unto the woman, who bears the comfort of his loins who shares the love of his mind and take refuge in his worth

Within the pulsation element of our wondrous being
Until the skies, let it always remain true, even in the amiss, allow solitude of the intellect to ring
I hear the soft winds, they cry out for me
The earth cuddles my soul as sirens embrace my footprints upon the sands that leads me to the high seas
The water of purification has cleansed the core of my mind
Forsaken others to journey to the road of enlightenment, we must leave others behind
Something greater, something higher, there is always honor in silence
The incantation of my Chakras tells my sacred temple I must leant, I must do
When you have to make choices as to breathe or live off the land, deemed more important than dinning of non-spiritual food

Is it that moment of epiphany found in humans to become our greatest awakening, yet, our greatest sin
The sweetest curse, undulated passion, when easing in the passage of glorification, once inside, lost in the exchanging of souls, again, and again
Where are your roots, have you cut down your own trees
Refusing to sow your own seeds
To watch the development of your earthy growth
Ask yourself, what do offer as you stand on soil, what is your potential, do you stay, do you ask of yourself more as you flow
Do I close the door to reality only the Heavens truly knows

I have conjured myself in the darkness of my own midst
Lost my soul in the ocean of the depth of abyss
Engulfed the ancient secrets not here today, now I have to ask of self where do I fit
Opening new eyes as I reap the fruits of my labor, where my passion to live, my journey, follow that star as I sing
Never forget, in life, even the meek must watch out for the Bee stings
The darker the berry the sweeter the juices, makes this a Honey Queen
Have the world become color blinded in a fairytale of make believe
Last night I knelt on my knees

Father, can you hear, I need you grace today
I am down here praying for the one, who think they have run out of words to say
I need your compassion, we all need your understand during trying debauchery, scene of unforgivable crimes
We’re all trying to find of peace, before our existence run out of breath as the sands of time

linger

uneasy emotion, I feel alone
I don't feel you near
I reach with my soul and loneliness echoes back

a little hope then fade to black
I miss your presence
caressing my darkness with a need of your own

I feel the day to day crowd in
I look out and don't see you
I wonder what wave carried you away?

some unique fascination, maybe
the mundane all too obvious
I got lost among the clothes

I seek your company
I may never know it again
but it sustained me all these years
if you hear me remain stoic

fuck the coming dawn
a ghost of my haunting soul

Dancing with Heraklion Lions

“Though my soul may set in darkness,
it will rise in perfect light;
I have loved the stars too fondly
to be fearful of the night.” Sarah Williams

The night decants
Red wine skies from morning breath,
Opera black stillness
Raises from bass depth,
Slowly as a somnolent wreck.

Harbour’s tongue stretch the cracks,
Tides mark the years that have passed
Since the womb became entombed.
There was a tear in his blue eye,
Something religious in the silence.

Alone as the woollen garment in my suitcase,
Lovers’ bracelets jangle as sacks of keys
Decades heavy in my pockets.

Techno-beat from drunken discotheque
Stirs the ancient ocean to a murmur:
Sunken vessel collects eternal rhythm,
Until Lyra strings are fatally broken.

It hurts to breathe in the asthmatic air,
Church of trees > against the nursed night,
Act as lungs for bedded habitat.
Shuffling sheets with a hand, which
Only knows how to paint skin bruises.

Insomnia carries its own dream landscape.
I can feel the tension in electricity pylon wires
As stalking buzzards wait for their daily prey:
Touch the networks, and
Touch the nerves of the planet.

Under bleached sky and cirrus
The day rises like timber in a swell.
Streaks of fishing boats,
Returning as Minoan fleet,
Expose silvered catch to chemical light.

Trail of socks-and-sandals
Plough necropolis ground,
Furrowed are brows of the beloved.
In Requiescat, wasted lives are buried everywhere.

Wildfires beyond horizon, briefly
Turn my summer heart to cinders.
Waiting for the tranquillity & treachery of ice,
Free Santa hats for the bereaved.

Waitress wipes my spoon on silk blouse
Closest to erotic the days bring.
Jimmy Dean plays suitor to Hepburn
Braille film of tenderness, silent seduction.
Cigarette smoke rings
Drift over her head as a halo.
Smiling wryly,
‘Is this how Dad dated Mum?’

// ~ //

Barrels of last words spoken,
Recoil, ricochet, frail fingers on trigger,
Blast, hiraeth, my mouth still bleeds.
Wherever you are,
I hope you’re singing.

// ~ //

Sluiced fish guts on harbour wall,
Haruspication Gods (en)trail,
Fate flies on aluminium wings.
Portrait of afternoon numbness
Framed by the poetics of space.

Attached to the life-support Walkman,
Morrissey takes Cohen by the hand:
Home is a question mark,
Forever, it seems,

Sometimes you get mistaken for yourself.
We are merely scrawled post cards
Waiting to be delivered.

Ink blood bone
Remember me this way…..
