Poetry Contest Description
I want a seat at your Thanksgiving table
Zero filth here, just straight up feelings about 1 day in time..
What is "Thanksgiving" to you?
is it....
Food
pets
family
friends
drinks
drugs
pjs
slipper, etc...
choosing to celebrate alone?
loathe the holiday?
not too long
new writes
Ill get lost under 20 lines
may or may not rhyme\
pics optional
what makes your thanksgiving tick or make you sick?
GO!

Masterpiece
One foot in front of the next, trying to tip the scale
Growing from the crack of a concrete, such a gory tale
Couples of dread cards I have being dealing with
Got adrift sometimes, somehow I still get a lift
Life's been working shifts on another stack
Pray I find a needle in a haystack
For am just a trooper who needs a better rope
Hopes on God to cut me a piece of soap.

A Wider Vision
After all these troubled and tumultuous times
And the craziness happening around the world
We’ve been able to stay calmly together
Even when things seemed so unsure
After all the ups and downs in recent years
Even when we thought it would be the end
We were able to pull ourselves through it
Even though we lost some dear friends
After all the frustrations and latent vexations
We managed to solve our problems with clarity
Growing older has given us a wider vision
A collective wisdom coupled with sincerity
After all the leaps of faith and tests of patience
We have achieved things we dreamed as youth
With logic and kindness there is more harmony
Even when there’s darkness we can see the truth
These things accumulated throughout the years
Families, friends, careers, all that makes us grateful
But after all the difficulties I think I can really feel…
A calm sense of peace for which I am truly thankful

Thankful for It All
There is laughter on the tip of the tongue.
I am thankful for the better memories in
The middle of all the uncertainty and
Chaos. I feel the strength of my lungs
As I am thankful for where I have been
And for the firmness of your hand
In mine as I navigate this treacherous
Thing called life. I am thankful I can
Call on those who are a part of my tribe.
I am thankful for my adventurous
Spirit as it is open to a different plan.
Mostly I am thankful for all good vibes.

Jer, I think one of the rules was no filth so a poem about your "dick" isnt really what I was looking for, if you could please delete that would be much appreciated.

A thanksgiving prayer
Each will find, his own festival ideal
the joy to ride the heights, as on a Ferris Wheel
to join the celebration, give respect and kneel
remember all those gone before, to be revered
Gods silver service, hid behind the clouds
the years of conflict that weaved the silken thread
spilt the blood ,of those that lie beneath the shroud
lost courage, where we owe a lasting debt
Warm hands each crossed upon the heart
days of anticipation, appreciation, just to partake
gratitude for life's gifts, wishes all earmarked
the precious icing is faith upon the cake
The creature comforts we shower on our lives
snug PJ's, pleasures drugs to suit all tastes
burning hearth, warming food and friends arrived
the Founding Fathers laid the blocks, to lay upon our plates
Now the time, to say your grace in hearty thanks
that you still have the gift of choice
diversity is a rainbow, if we don't close our ranks
just join our hands and sing with just one voice
Be ours to graciously accept with prayer
a table weighed with trust and hope displayed
Thanksgivings truer meanings, when it's shared
sustenance for the spirit, we all crave
the joy to ride the heights, as on a Ferris Wheel
to join the celebration, give respect and kneel
remember all those gone before, to be revered
Gods silver service, hid behind the clouds

What I’m Thankful For
Bagpipes at funerals
And cut rate hotels
Wardrobe malfunctions
And the Liberty Bell
Infants in baskets
Crying at the front door
These are the things
That I’m thankful for
Fried shrimp and scallops
And snow days in June
Cocaine till sun up
And sleeping till noon
Moderate nudity
And porn that’s softcore
These are the things
That I’m thankful for
First dates and farewells
And breakfast in bed
A glass of champagne
That goes straight to your head
Erotic positions
You ain’t tried before
These are the things
That I’m thankful for
Poets who dislike
What might seem uncouth
In their fearless pursuit
Of a sanitized truth
Hallmark card humans
That cannot ignore
All of these things
That I’m thankful for
And cut rate hotels
Wardrobe malfunctions
And the Liberty Bell
Infants in baskets
Crying at the front door
These are the things
