Who Gums It Up
A city of my design
Would be vast and well thought out
With roads heading all directions
To the east, west, north, and south
Great restaurants and shopping
Different cultures in all the stores
Stadiums and arenas
With newspapers showing the scores
Museums of every sort
Theaters in every park
Opera, ballet, all on display
Orchestras after dark
Power would be green
Recycling everywhere you see
Utilities would be abundant
Internet would be free
But an Utopian society
This does not make
For if that's all that's there
It's nothing but a fake
It must be full of people of all ages
Of all colors and religion
That's what it takes to be Utopian
But who am I kidding
It takes more than a city
And there's always some jerk
Striving for glory and power
Who gums up the works
Would be vast and well thought out
With roads heading all directions
To the east, west, north, and south
Great restaurants and shopping

The Truman show
It foretold what was to come
laid the plans
to predict the new outcomes
drew the blueprints, in tomorrows sand.
Utopia, behold its shining centrefold
As Alexa snoops
all the corporate giants listen
unknowingly, we jump all kinds of hoops
and each align, individuality all forbidden.
Utopia behold its golden totem pole
Each the actor centre stage
when Covid leaves an empty nest
men in grey suits, sent to persuade
the world will have to be reset.
Behold utopia. it's mind to take complete control
Automation like a dreaded virus
the new coming, to leave us all so blessed
every source of information biased
that, black is white, the lie to the oppressed.
Behold, utopia the empty effigy, our goal
Point your bow towards the west
set the compass to avoid the wreak
all fallen walls of past mistakes
the Xanadu that dreamers faked
Behold, utopia the lie that's being sold
Flaws and cracks so hidden deep
the holy grail just out of reach
a Disneyland, sham fairy-tale indeed
to suck our hopes just like a leech
Behold, utopia perfection's vanity; implodes
A hymen, that unbroken episode
debauched by greed. and life's cuckold
laid the plans
to predict the new outcomes
drew the blueprints, in tomorrows sand.

The first time I laid my eyes on The Golden City
I was amazed at all it’s beauty and splendor
Skyscrapers nestled between rivers and mountains
A scenery that only the imagination could render
In this true symbiosis of technology and nature
People go about their way wearing colorful clothes
There’s a sense of peace and harmony amongst them
When their king walked around without being grandiose
This society is a wonder of scientific advancement
Respectful of the environment and its protection
It’s a utopia that this country has kept a secret
A paradise on earth that is close to perfection
I long to visit the city and the towns in the countryside
Converse with it’s citizens and all that they’ve achieved
Marvel in the science and fellowship of this nation
Witnessing the creation of all that they’ve conceived
But through all these descriptions there is just one flaw
Is that I’ll never be able to travel for this endeavor
And it’s because this is part of a cinematic universe
Even with the passing of their king – Wakanda Forever

Thank you. I was surprised as the competition was tough. It's my first so I'm going to shine it up and put it up on my mantle.
