Poetry Contest

Silence Vs Versus ..Take Your Stand ..either the Saintly Silence or the Exuberance of Verses ..or Both or Nil?!

Hello Deep Poets!!

Back to You All, Now in Search of a Standpoint..Silence Vs Verses

To say of the Comp. theme ...
Is it the Supreme Salience of Silence that is the greatest Art or Expression of All..
Or is it the written & rolled out pearls of wordistic artistry , the Verses we Bleed...

Would love to quote one of my ev. favourite:
“I feel that art has something to do with the achievement of stillness in the midst of chaos. A stillness which characterizes prayer, too, and the eye of the storm. I think that art has something to do with an arrest of attention in the midst of distraction.”  ~ Saul Bellow

Whatever be the standpoint, all that is ached for in silence or verses ...is still that  beautiful STILLNESS amidst all...

I leave it to you..of how you align yourself  either towards one or both or nil?!

But would need a deeply touching brevity ..of no explicit extreme shallow  debate ..but a poetic pondering from your depths...

Rules for Submission:

within 99 words
title compulsory
(word count inclusive of title)
any style of poetry (but free verse preferably)
no erotic/ extreme content
ONE entry per poet
(feel free to dm for any more details,  & dunn discuss/ comment in the thread plz. silent thread alert*)

Winner(s) to be based on:
-the overall felt depths  &/or
-a beautiful chaos or a clarity in zooming in to your Standpoint
-imaginative/ abstractive/ metaphorical spin &/or
-that an x-factor poetic feel.

Looking forward to yours, cheerz:)

THE BRISTLECONE FOREST CONTINUES TO BURN INSIDE ME

At 10,000 feet
The world takes your words
Away

Pneumatic action slows

The eyes and ears
Appear to expand

It occurs to you
To drown in silence

Both heavy and light

A Louder Silence - for the “silence verses verses comp”

There are times when silence
Can really equate to violence
When in your heart you know
You should speak up
Stand against injustice
Support the downtrodden
Why inside of your mind
Do you recite silent verses?
That you know to be right
With lips sealed so tight
Write verses of power
Break your silence declaring
Silence can be a good thing
But not when it leads to hurting others
Choose your battles wisely
Using silence and verses
When appropriate

Doubt drearily descends, distorting damned dreamers disillusioned dimensions.
Damned damsels dangle devilish deeds, defiantly distorting decencies dependability.
Decades drift, decomposing daily, doubt decays decency despite damnedest devotion.

Arche angels ascend altruistic atrocities aiming armoured arrows angrily at antisocial aristocrats.
Armageddon’s arrived, allowing amnesties absence.
Armies arduously amass armaments, anticipate absolute annihilation.

Murderous maniacs mutilate mankind’s morals, making morbid memories.
Masochistic masterminds meticulously masquerade mass misery.
Men’s motions mimic mishandled marionettes, mindless morons mesmerized, mass manipulated mourning menaces.

Narcissistic nemesis’s near, negating normal narration.
Nightmarish nationalism nullifies numerous needs.
Never negotiate Nasferatu’s nauseous notions needlessly.

A silence, almost sacred.
The caesura, that elegant silence in verse,
is more a punctuation of thoughts just previous
and those anticipated, than it is mere pause.
So many times,
that silence is as important as the words...sometimes even more so.

if this is the mother land in crudest late discovery
read, bleed and plead in her asylum quickly now
for from the flying free ashes you arise anew again
birthing out of scriptless realisational dream forms

feel (in), the very above
before spirits stare blank from familiarities in use

tad tired of nonadept words
and, ignorant of musical beats

VERSIFICATION

Quietness is coming,
Its certainty is sure.

Old oak tree
Earthed in silence
Seeing omnipotent
Wearing orbital fingerprints
Leaf wrapped seeking solace
Soil lull in re-birthing, broken by
Hail of babies crying.

Alone on shore
Gulls licking waves
Haphazard horizon shows
Tankers falling off world edge.

As turrets turn, above wheels
Everything rides before
Twin boomed elevation
Seemingly, in silent slow motion
Ocean corners turned inside-out.

Dark clouds on roaring verge
Hanging as executioner’s
Smile across harbour lips
Disembowelled,
Turn sky purpling verse
Frame backdrop of new play.

World will end in corps’ing silence
Charred/Burnt remains…..
          Final verse.

silence versus verse

Stillness is... a state of mind,
silence has its place…
verse saves it   ...the memory...
for another day.

Don't Forget Your Coat!

A watched pot never
chills after-thought
deafened

Silence toils, "What's left..."
this condition ails thirty-two,
                and below--

Nothing's separate      still,
Ice won't freeze regret.
            Foggy...

I can't lose quietly
what I choose to...

No exhaustion tires a mess, and
Stagnant won't stay
awake! I already checked

The flame refuses to inspire...

Hope to see some more entries pouring in your purely poetics..Cheerz All:)

a gentle bump to this comp., slanting in a silence -a non-entry:

::{of airs & the anthuriums}::

staring agape
  in a
     mesmerize

  plumage
of our unbearably
swimming
       lightness

in a collective
 bundling bloom
of an erecting
 spadix… silence

 of bubbling rawness
in  flagged prominence

 ultrasonically hymns
      airy anthem
       of our love
 -as tuning forks
of sacred vibrance
  in Everest-ly
(s)peaking unheard
magnitudes

 over the sprawling
umbrellaic base
of contrastingly
 blaring
       Red-
skirted spathy Earth

Early Hours

There’s a sacred moment between father and son,
When the child cries in the early hours.
Once the newborn is fed and changed
And their eyes meet,
The bond between father and son takes on a new meaning…

I love you because you are an extension of me,
My future
My kin,
A gift,
A new life that completes my happiness.

But the child won’t understand this abstract thought,
It has to be shared with a whisper,
A song,
A kiss on the tiny hand,
And as our eyes meet,
I smile,
Because the silence compliments the bond.
