THE CONSPIRACY CASE
Poetry Contest Description
Write a poem as a Conspiracy Whistle-Blower taking the Witness Stand
There's so much trickery and lies in this world, ranging from all walks of life. From businesses to politics, from a disgruntled employee to a revenge-seeking victim....there's conspiracy all around us!
Pretend you have been summoned to court to take the Witness Stand in regards to a "Conspiracy" Case you EYE-WITNESSED yourself.
1). Make/State the "conspiracy case" clear in your poem.
2). Detail how you knew "the case" was a "conspiracy" in your poem.
3). Give your BEST argument and convince your readers your case was, indeed, a CONSPIRACY against YOU or SOMEONE ELSE....
4). Stick with your WITNESS STAND ARGUMENT ONLY...Details of what the courtroom smelled like, looked like, made you feel, etc. is NOT relevant in this comp!
5). You may want to start off with a very brief introduction of your disposition as a witness: Describing VERY briefly where you were and how you became an EYE-WITNESS.
Comp Guidelines:
1). FREE-style and rhyme poetry welcomed; NO EXTENSIVELY LENGTHY POEMS....VOID sectional poems...
2). One (1) Maximum submission allowed.
3). No maximum word-count, but PLEASE NOT TOO LENGTHY...
4). Comp winner will be determined by host (NOT UP FOR PUBLIC VOTE).
5). Anyone need more time than 2 weeks? Let me know!!
Sample of my FICTIONAL Case is below....This is FICTIONAL.....
If you can’t hear them,
Call it hallucinations.
Diagnose those who do hear
the voice of the underworld
As schizos and psychos
Simply based on the fact
You can’t hear what they hear….
So, no one will know what we know....
Those who do hear voices of the underworld
Know that, only because not everyone hears,
Does not mean the voices are NOT real…
Because the voices of the underworld
Are MORE than just REAL….
As the light knoweth not all things of the underworld
So does the dark not understand the things of the light.
When facing each other’s world, one does not
Understand the other….
Yet, when a saint sayeth, “The Lord spoke to me,”
Everyone hearkens to listen
And they call it Divine Revelation.
Yet, when those who hear the dark speak,
And says, “The voices of the underworld speak to me,”
Everyone panics because it's coming from the underworld;
So our job is to lay that listener down,
And we do by burying him with countless pills
Hoping he slumbers ‘til the day he dies…
For he is like punished and accursed to all….
Docs and psychiatrists, alike, we all suppress the truth
For our money lies on those we diagnose,
Whether legitimately or falsely
Our greed reaches the heavens!
We are money-driven..not people-caring!!!
So, though we know the truth
We are to turn to those concerned awaiting outside our office doors
And we shall tell them
“He’s gone mad! Schizophrenic and psychotic man he is!
But, no worries! He will be of NO trouble at all…
As long as he takes doses of pills
And visits me weekly for talk therapy.”
Then, the resident muttered under his breath,
“For we shall silently kill him under pills
So that he speaketh NOT anymore!”
Then, they exchanged eye-glances,
As if making a pact to hold-fast
the secret that their newly-diagnosed patient
Was NOT a psycho at all!
When they exchanged glances, the corner of the resident's lip
Slightly and discreetly curled with a smirk
And the doctor placed his pointed finger over his mouth
And lightly let out a
“Shhhh!”
Coming closer to the resident he had exchanged glances with,
He softly said to him, as if no one else could hear,
“Let our NEW money-maker sleeeeep and dreeaaammmm his life away.
And let this secret NEVER leak-out
from either one of our locked lips!”

I Rest My Case, Your Worship.
This is my final testimony, presented to the court.
We drove a car home
walked into a house
dressed in clothes
ate food, drank grouse
Both of their jokes
sucked bad, as they could
leaving audiences gasping
worse than crickets would
He stood at the door
with a Garfield's grin
she peered in the window
looking ridiculously thin
He pulled out a gun
aimed, squeezing the trigger
she threw knives at his
loud, anorexic figure
A bullet went past
fetching sweat from my face
a blade stole a hair as it
flew above head-space
He fell to the floor
in a pool of red blood
she crumbled in pain
landing in the flash flood
I froze in the ice
looking left, then right
wondering if I had
seen that slow-motion fight
Truth is your worship
try as I might
I can't tell who died first
that ice cold, night
