Poetry Contest Description
Post a poem inspired by science fiction stories or ideas
I love science fiction. A lot of it is poetic/artistic more than scientific, since fiction writers create them, not scientists, although plenty of philosophy and science, and even religion weighs into the writers idea palette.
So I would love to see poets expressing those big what ifs and maybes as metaphors to life and/or future possibilities in science fiction poetry forms.
I want to play, too. So expect to see my entry.
I hate to limit it to one but it is already hard to pick a winner on some of these threads, with all the passion and talent in here.
Thanks in advance to all who play.
The thread will be open for one week, one poem per poet!
And....
Go!!

Heaven's Weeping Stars
From a view that lacks the day
All is lighted from afar
Where heaven’s constant gaze
Blurs to those who sail that way
Sweeping trails of light
Stars descending into view
Streaking tears of delight
To see with something new
Or do they weep for the lost child
Hurled in darkness screaming
Into the farthest unknown wild
They greet with starlight streaming
Shipmates of future time streams
Fueled by light we’ve been keeping
Sailing past these starlight beams
Will they see stars that are weeping?
All is lighted from afar
Where heaven’s constant gaze
Blurs to those who sail that way
Sweeping trails of light
Stars descending into view
Streaking tears of delight
To see with something new
Or do they weep for the lost child
Hurled in darkness screaming

Fueled by light we’ve been keeping
Sailing past these starlight beams
Will they see stars that are weeping?

Lotus imposition
Now into the deep funk of momentum soul
Spins our wheel around time's linear pole
The near miss of dual suns in an orbital accrue
Pythagoras would spit when one mention two,
A tetra helix column now standing in the mist
The fours rivers of Eden all flowing in a twist
13 petaled rose garden shows ornamental flow
Water of noon God seeding maternal water below,
The brazen serpent rod is leaning in Plato's cave
Show's a continuous model, a primeval sine wave
Eve planting seeds on the astral world mountain
An embryonic fruit grown from the holy fountain,
(A pulse of location but with no time duration)
(A movement of mind through a spatial relation)
As the self-embedding fruit tree sows our reality
So the seed base particle wave brings old duality
Infinity with an amplitude, infinity with a breath
Inhale our life existence, exhale the hour of death,
An octave spectrum forming a beam of white light
A decent of spiral fire that is burning into sight
"God is a verb not a noun", reads the book in the attic
Lower realms falling down, more dynamic than static,
A point (.) to a line(I) and then on to expanse(O)
The particle vibration will spin a natural dance
"Lord" as singular while "God" as inclusive
This geometric metaphor rings vibrating music...

Now Then
Now
If I could
I would pulse over planets
To visit Mars
I would zoom into your heart
Just to see what's in it
I would write volumes about you
Being the one and only
I would create a species
To stop you from being lonely
Exhilarating as you are
One step from being afar
Distant from my desire
To see you again
And be with you
As history repeats
Our immortal sin
I will love you forever
From when time begins
Then
If I could
I would pulse over planets
To visit Mars
I would zoom into your heart
Just to see what's in it
I would write volumes about you
Being the one and only
I would create a species
To stop you from being lonely
Exhilarating as you are

Distant from my desire
To see you again

Our immortal sin
I will love you forever
From when time begins

DREAMSCAPE : REDSHIFTED
Somewhere
Like the space between
A sheet folded in half
And a slight
Burning sensation
And a dread cacophony
Oscillating in and out
Of existence
Yet in its absence, it is still there
Clearer than my own self-awareness
Dredged the sludge
Drained from the cut
The hole is spreading
I dig inside myself
Touch my mind
And it avulses
No colour, no light
Thoughts take precedence
My eyes
Are they opening?
Nothing
Suffocating void
All is amorphous
Yet aggregate
Grey
Yet opaline
Senses diluted
As temerity ebbs
Matter diffusion
My hands are cobwebs
I spill out
As ichor in water
But in loss, I am more

Escape from Planet Microverse
Its porous surface of all-seeing eyes
with volcanic sties at polar ends,
from the erratic tug of satellites that scan
across the static of elliptical rings,
when spirit had released its
circle into a sea of impetus--
the will of force, to start and end
a journey past, and then begin again.
Traditional spells aside,
with much to abort and to abide,
to assuage the widow moon's bridge-keeper
with bribes of all that you promised her,
Lest you wade the murky depths in the
guise of an albino salamander,
avoiding consumption while traversing
the oily maze of surface fires
that block the way, and flotillas of
man-o-war jellyfish,
their tentacles rife with voltage
to your slithering genitalia.
And from the mantle of your blindness
you sense amid the current
a jagged danger on the far side
where brittle struts from bone of baleen
threaten to sabotage the integrity
of your shape-shifting escape.
Little-known the consequences.
No book of shadows to guide us,
nor the written divination of runes, or
reed scriptures from the after world.
The encryption simply reads that
there is nothing more, once it is begun.

Not a Life Lesson, But A Lesson About Life
All though I know true love I also know heartache. Both go together and you are bound to feel both at varying points in your life. Sometimes, you may feel both and they will alternate pulling back and forth at your heart strings. It is that that I believe can cause the biggest reality check. The last thing I expected was to feel both all the time, but sometimes that has to happen for life to sort itself out. In the end it always does; it may just take a little longer than any of us would prefer. To be quite honest I would do away with both extremes all together but we all know how that would end.
This is not meant to be a poem, but a story with a practical ending. But, what is practical anymore? The right answer and best thing to do I suppose.
Life has a way of kicking you in the butt unanticipated yet still it blames you for reacting in a certain way that is distasteful to other eyes and ears. Sometimes that's what love and heartache does.
Heartache doesn't always have to do with a romantic relationship. Sometimes it can have everything to do with friends or family; that's often times when it stings the most. Sometimes love can cause just as much pain but we don't do anything about it except cry because we are afraid of losing the thing we have that we assumed was our own happiness but was just our own destruction. These are all words from experience.
In the end, I have learned one thing; you can use love to help heal the would that heartache has created. Just listen to yourself and no one else and I believe it will all be okay in the end. Hopefully it will be for me too one day. Until then, one can only hope.

More entries! Don't know why okanna chose this entry for sci-fi, but appreciate the participation all the same.
Also, thank you cloven tongue for your entry. What an interesting scenario. Hopefully actually more like distopic sci-fantasy, but the future will settle it for us.

My Youniverse
It was the spring of nineteen ninety seven,
When there was a knock at my door,
It was a stranger in a royal navy blue suit,
And I swore it was someone I’d seen before.
He smiled and said, aren’t you going to invite you in?
Then a thousand thoughts ran through my mind,
As I began to recognize his familiar features,
Like an older twin from a different place or time.
Are you an uncle of mine? I asked curiously,
Thinking this was some kind of con or scheme,
Look into my eyes, he said in that moment,
And no this is not some type of surrealist dream.
He proceeded to tell me my deepest darkest secrets,
Things I never spoke to anyone about,
Like a mind reader my every thought he repeated,
I realized it was older me without a doubt…
We are breaking the laws of the space and time continuum,
By me, meaning you, telling me you some future events,
But there is one particular incident that’s an exception,
As it will have the most usual and unequivocal consequence.
I told me, I meaning older me and me the younger self,
Of a particular study taking place in twenty one years,
You must have a strong state of emotion and of mind,
Be cognizant of the decision you make and steer clear.
Not everything you see or hear is what you think it is,
When you’re plugged into the system you’ll realize,
Don’t go near the dishes otherwise you’ll be drawn,
Don’t lose yourself in cyberspace so open your eyes.
I shook my hand, meaning he shook his,
He walked out the door and disappeared,
I never experienced anything else like that,
I thought I was imagining something weird.
It was early in January two thousand eighteen,
I had been experiencing sleep deprivation,
Even after the pills my doctor had prescribed,
I still couldn’t sleep adding to my frustration.
He recommended a trial sleep study,
Just a few minutes out of town,
Desperate I went on his advice,
As if I had been spellbound.
When I drove into the complex,
It almost looked like a military of base,
I noticed three huge satellite dishes,
It made me wonder about the place.
After I completed all the release forms,
A team of doctors then analyzed me,
They connected electrodes to my head,
Then I remembered what I advised me.
