Authors Beware!
I'm coming here to warn you about "honest critique group" (and share my experience of being part of)
before I joined it I made a research and as they seemed ok
when I joined they seemed quite nice
but eventually push came to shove and their claims turned out to be flat as instead of being helpful, they just silenced me ASAP
I've tried to reach them for explanation, but they don't seem to be able to give one
So I have decided to come here and tell you about my experience.
Because if you're doing research yourself....
There are many people who never got into more serious matters with them, and thus never seen claims of said group tested by actions taken
There are many people who like said group and people behind it....
But I would like you to remember:
A person nice to you and not nice to the waiter.... is NOT a nice person.
I am the waiter.
And I would very much prefer if YOU didn't have to be the NEXT ONE. ^^

note: I‘m adding this 22.11.2017, it is possible that when you are reading this, said people are not even part of the group/changed their way of dealing with people whom have joined their group and this warning is no longer relevant
note2: the incident happened around 13.11.2017 (beware the ancient power of time zones! ^^) and I still have did not get any explanation from people in question (last updated: 22.11.2017)

can't say I'm familiar with the groups inner workings. I can say from experience a critique can take some time to put together
dunno if you read the guidlines of the group but after a quick scan of them i found this:
2. Do not become defensive. You're here to obtain the perspective and opinion of the Critiquers, as well as improve your writing skills. When a Critiquer donates their valuable time and effort to your work, the most beneficial thing to do is ask for clarification if you don't understand. If you feel a Critiquer has totally missed the point of the poem, then by all means point that out and request additional feedback based on that information. However, realize from the Critiquer's initial response that the poem is ambiguous, which may be a weakness in relating your message effectively. What can you do to better connect and convey the message you intended to your audience?
fair enough, you felt the critique wasn't up to scratch or explained properly, but going outside the group and posting this only really reflects on you. it might show youre not really ready to accept honesty, but more than that you're willing to shout about it and try cause a stir when it doesn't go your way.
tsk tsk, fellow poet.
if I were you, [.and I was, believe me for many a split second I was.] I'd allow myself a bit of dignity, leave the group and get critique the traditional 'critique other people's poems and have it returned' way
other than that, I dunno man. I hope you find peace

well, i don't think you got the point...
my problem wasn'T that they would critique my works & i would not like that (i mean... /i litterally signed up for that/)
in fact i joined this whole site because on this other one i was getting positive feedback only & that was significantly discouraging me from writing, so i asked around & was reccomended this site....
what happened to me with the group in question was that they had a problem with my poem - fair enough,
(they were actually right about the thing they had problem with, or i do believe so, and since you're not getting more on that, you might as well take my word on that for now)
but instead of being asked about it and/or explained where i went wrong.... i was silenced & kicked out of group immediatelly....
and when i tried to reach all the people in question, there was (and by the time i'm writing this still has not been) /any response from them whatsoever/
speaking of being defensive, i guess i should end my response with something like "so what does this say about me?" buuuut since in the situation you layed out to expect is what had happened i would (and do) agree with you i guess i'll end it by:
well, that's unfortunately not my case.

post it here, maybe it will provide some clarity
Also, I'm sure if you check the gidelines and such you'll find the practice of removing poems is legislated for and agreed to by joining...

i do believe i did enclose all the crucial information in my... well technically second contribution to this threat, but i do see how that could be discutable so ok.
It is not everything (as everything) it gets more complex as you dwell into it & as i still haven't been able to get the insight of the people in question, i believe that there'S /at least something more/ to it
I would say that i /am/ annoyed a bit about it as that is the simple answer to your question....
the long one is that i don't really hold personal grudge against the people in question, but i find the experinece displeasant and potentially dangerous for new authors, and so, since i have information and thus at least some ability to prevent that... i would very much prefer if other people could avoid that experience.
hence why i have put up the thread....
i could post all the letters i've sent the people in question, however, despite the page labeled those as "read" i have not get any response. and thus have no real contribution for the side of the people in question (besides, i think that would spam the thread as they have their lenght, and upon creating this thread, i believed more than solely mine problems would be solved/posted here....)
so i don't think that would be really helpfull
however, if you want, i am all for a personal discussion about it. Just have in mind that i can not support you by the perspective of "The other side" as i don't have any to begin with....

Positive Feedback is nice but, I started saying criticism is good motivation.
