From An Angels View

as laughs and the smiles fill the room
the spirit of the season protects them from harm
the bond of a family
and the unity of those

who place their trust
and well being in the hands
of each other...

a candle flame flickers
atop the mahogany mantel
adorned with keepsake figurines
and colorful stockings

the black bricks within the fireplace
a timeline of history
layers of family gatherings
charred with memories

the wind whips
against the old wood framed windows
ancient glass etched with stories from the past
the view of a brown brick porch...

wrought iron posts
and antique light fixtures
fill the picturesque landscape

floor boards creak under foot
as the former residents wander the house
a shadow moves across the room
and the candle flame dances

atop its crystal perch
glances of acceptance shoot across the room
they know they are not alone here
and they find comfort with their company

knowing they are being looked after
by those of whom have loved this place as much as they
the lights upon the strands
carefully woven within the branches of the tree

twinkle
and shine
and reflect off of the tinsel
a family history of ornaments
adorn its branches
so thoughtfully placed as to not crowd each other

high atop the tree I sit
holding a candle
with a flickering electric light
this is the family that has so graciously
chosen me as the pinnacle of their holiday decorations
and I shall watch over them

Give it time. I guarantee more people will join the comp.
I completely understand what you mean though

Dear Melody,

Another year without you
I'm the bluest of the blue
Do you think Santa will come?
Make my wish come true?
I bet you don't know what it is
It's to have you

My friends are all busy
You're family if not true
I'm hoping you'll come see me
Even though you said you'd never leave me
Alone on the holiday,
That pain shouldn't stay

Mom and dad are gone
No way I can run
Bring some joy to this Grinch of a heart
Have a holly jolly year

                      Signed,
                             Your Brother (Unknown)

(The fact that you didn't send me a text, but instead wrote a poem was kind of cute).

Loving the evenings by the fire
And caroling along in your choir
The little ones crawling up my leg
While everyone gathers around for my stage
I miss those days

Now it's just me and you
The twins,
Best for two

The duets are something you'll never forget
Sure I'd like the evening fire
But time with my brother is what I most desire
I'll crawl up your leg
A centimeter or so anyway
My stage is by your side,
If that's ok

So you see
I'll be home for Christmas
Because you're all I have
You better not make dinner like last year
That would make me mad

You're so sarcastic at times
You're last Christmas letter said
You want an elf
Or was that Mrs. Claus?

Merry Christmas Darling

The sun shines into my eyes
through my open window
tearing eyes by the light
the cold wind blows
you shiver by a fire
Am I in your thoughts?

Walking on the beach
the sand on my toes
salty air ruffling my hair
as you bundle up
your puppy with rugs
asleep by the fireside

the rain fell
in heavy torrents
thinking of floods now
as the snow fell
on your eaves
winter after the fall

Merry Christmas Darling
such a beautiful sight
snow on pine trees
while the green leaves
they simply rustles
under my tropical sky.

Wings of an angel

As Christmas nears
he sits at home,
the lonely man, and fears
to have a silent night alone.

The candles burning bright,
the TV keeps him company,
such a saddening sight,
not even a Christmas tree.

The holy eve is there
and as he sips his tea,
footsteps are drawing near,
who could that be?

Knocking on his door,
a silent voice is heard.
"What did you come here for?",
he asks the one he feared.

Without a single sound,
she kisses him, she's there.
An angel can be found
really anywhere.

Twinkling Lights

We searched the whole
tree farm for the perfect
tree
We weren't leaving there
without it that you can
guarantee
Saw in hand and the kids
scattered amongst the
pines
I hear a voice in the distance
shouting outloud "this one
outshines"
With smiling faces we hurry
to the excited voice in the
distance
The two older boys puffed
out their chest and offered
assistant
The youngest boy carried
our tree to the little
shed
A woman took our picture
next to our tree and
said
"You got the perfect tree
you must have walked
around"
My daughter answered
"we couldn't leave until it was
found"
Loaded in the chevy with
it's fragrance filling the
cab
Wondering when we get
home who would give it a
grab
Unloaded and in the house
ready to decorate the
branches
Everyone searching for their
ornament as the dog sits and
scratches
Looking at the finished tree
it's the most beautiful
sight
My favorite part besides being
together is all the twinkling
lights

From my family to yours,
Merry Christmas

When we say
Merry Christmas
we may

See the fortunes of those
Who have nothing to compose

they are all alone
basking in solitary silence,
say a word to them too

Merry Christmas to friends like you

Let the world rejoice
let each one himself voice
and upon good wishes of
a colorful Christmas tree
wish a Happy Xmas to me

By again
