ADULTERY AS THE LOSS OF INNOCENCE IN MARRIAGE

It was time to get married
So I followed the crowd
Married a doctor
My parents so proud

A traditional marriage
Traditional vows
Ten commandments followed
No adultery allowed

Imagine coming home
To find your husband in bed
With your best friend
Except the “best friend” was a he

He should never had done it
He experimented with me
To see if he could be heterosexual
I was useful you see

A poor man's daughter
Cannot afford a lawyer's retainer
He kept his fortune
While I slid down the socioeconomic scale

Then I found out
I was unwanted
Fear of AIDS
Made a pariah out of me

INNOCENCE LOST - CYNICISM SETS IN

When you are no longer young
When you have been betrayed
In marriage and other endeavors
You lost your innocence I say
And if you have not, you are guileless
For you have not learned
Humans are a nasty species
They lie and they hate
Some get away with murder
Yes, it is true, cold case files
Litter police departments
All over the world
What about girls
Hid for ten years
In the neighborhood in which
They grew up?
Or others having children
In a camped-out back yard
Again, lost for years
Everybody gave up

Your boss is incompetent
Because she has risen
Been promoted from one level to another
Finally supervisor
Finally a job where she doesn't know shit

Then there is the blame game
Played from childhood to death
We didn't do it
It must have been someone else
Used by nations to create wars
Not to save lives, but to sell arms
War is profitable, if one does not pop up
We will create a reason

I am sure we all have taken the fall
For some scapegoat is necessary
Read about it in the bible
Except goats are not used
People are easier
Blame everything on them
And punish them all

Machiavelli was right
Better be feared than loved
But make it a popularity contest
To make it look honest.

Campaign

The first time, we walk into love
Like an infant walking into no-man's land.
All around us, brilliance and sound,
Lights and colours,
And no thought of shields or weapons.
We are, of course, mortally wounded.

The next time, remembering the first,
We seek again the vision and the moment,
The headlong rush, the reckless loss of self.
But now, from the corner of the eye, we notice movement,
And when the end comes, though it devastates,
We realize that it was half-foreseen.

And so, on.
As time goes by, we gird ourselves;
Reluctantly, we learn the use
Of plans and strategies:
What favours us, and what we should avoid.
But, knowing, still we court the coup de grâce.

We cannot now be innocent,
We cannot shed the baggage that we bear.
And yet, among the broken masonry,
We look for what we started out to find:
Brilliance and sound,
Lights and colours,
And someone other than ourselves to know.

innocence

i never had it
i was taken when i was little
i guess they thought i would
live without
they were wrong
age 6 molested
"uncle" said he loved me
he told me it will all be ok
that "she" would get jealous
and try to take me away

age 13
he was suposed to teach me
how to win a jingle dress contest
to perfect my stepping
i watched his kids in return
well he was home too
and there was a table
wifey was in the bedroom
i guess he wanted another kid
13 and pregnant
not a good combination
muscarried 4 and a 1/2 months later
how i blamed myself

age 15
it was a job on a ranch
he was a family friend
4 times my age i thought i was safe
i thought wrong
first the out to eat lunches
then cooking at his house
late nights in the feilds
then came hunting
a simple accident he said
if i screamed
i didnt scream untill
a year later

all ive said is the truth.
there is no lies here for you
this is my history

Just a Story, maybe.

"Shh,
don't scream,
or your sisters will take your place
"
At the age of seven,
that's what I heard
my uncle say.

My mom wasn't around,
and my grandmother worked.
I'm the eldest of three,
I best take it,
I don't want to see them hurt.

I had no breast,
for him to suck on
It was wrong!
Just a flat chest,
didn't he know,
I was way beyond too young?

He didn't even bother,
to tell me pretty lines,
like in the movies.
It was like a horrible dream,
where a man abuses his
dummies.

My tears,
stained my pillow,
blood stained the sheets.
"You were so good"
he stated,
his face agleam.

I told my mother,
she swore I was lying.
That night was the first night,
out many,
were I put myself to sleep while
crying.

No one noticed,
Not from my quite,
withdrawn attitude,
my still appearance.
No one knew,
They didn't have
a clue.
That I had been robbed,
of my innocence.
