if you are the sun,
     then i am the moon;
          wherever you run,
               follow must i, soon.
                    for you are the light
                         that shines from above
                              to furnish me sight,
                                   lest vainly i rove.
 
                                   i shine but for thee—
                              how sweet a delight
                         to have you catch me
                    as strong wind, a kite!
               i glow for you now,
          so that you may see
     direction to grow
forever with me.
 
if you are the skies,
     then i am the seas;
          above me you rise,
               while i, on my knees,
                    stay close to the earth,
                         my arms open wide,  
                              to watch your rebirth
                                   where angels abide.
 
                                   if you are the hill,
                              then i am the vale;
                         i’ll love you until
                    the bright sun turns pale.
               above me you rise,
          below you i fall;
     i’ll drink to your eyes
when summer winds call.
 
but you are my prize:
     take me to new highs.
          your tides captivate
               my heart as i wait.
                    you are my desire,
                         igniting my fire,
                              reflecting my best,
                                   equal to the test.
 
                                   when there is no sun,
                              and there is no moon,
                         we may have begun
                    to make opportune
               the moments we spend
          chasing the big dream,
     whose joys never end,
whose peace we esteem.
