Rainy Day Collector

Your legacy
a limbo of lemons,
attic memories
suffocating dust--
the too good to chuck
bagged up with bruises
old wounds
no longer worth licking.
So if you're up there
watching over
from the floor above,
or pipe in hand
your ghostly figure
still paces the lawn
then please,
forgive me--
for while the sun was shining
I loaded up the truck
and it may be best
if you look away
as I make space
for the living.
