life as it lives and breathes
5 minutes alone with the enemy
15 min of fame
23 hours in a cell
and a drop of water on the tongue
this is the formula of life
it is a simple one
but it is not breathtaking
and it is not pleasant
and fuck you with your,
"no one said it would be easy" bullshit
I never said I wanted any of this
so shove logic up your ass
and pray it's not you I get the 5 minutes with
cause I'm burning and cornered
and not even the angler has known such a
ferosious temperment

some of the inner demons quiet down when you
get away from your outer demons
but we can't nulify them all
we still can't run from the greatest devil
our own minds
it runs rampant
like confused antelope being chase by tigers
trying to surive
but why?

these things I say
I feel
these things I touch
are warm
these things I taste, and smell, and hear, and see
are not real
nevertheless
I speak with the words of a
testosterone laden
broken and hopeless romantic
hopeless poet
no one hears these words I say
as well as I do
as well as I know them
within myself
I will die alone
shivering
in the trunk of a car
2000 miles from the next rest stop
my rest comes slowly

some heartless/mindless motherfucker once said,
"no one said life was going to be easy"

another dead ends
there was no point in even trying or hoping was there?
I'm not in charge
they are
they like to juggle precious stones in front of my eyes
then make them disappear
it's just another unfinished hand-job
I don't get to keep anything good in this life
it's just history repeating itself
over and over and over and over...
life is NOT what you make of it
life is what it decides it wants to be towards you
(we'll never get to see each other again will we?)

recycling
we burned in our own separate hells
of green gasoline and fumes and fire
that took our faces
to the stove top
and melted our skin
from the inside out.
but from the ash of our pain
raised the phoenix of art and beauty
with the texture of flame and feather.
and amidst these transformations
we found our home
in the arms of the other
whose been there
and burned too
in their own time-space
and in their own subjectivity
and at their own pace.
(I love you).

dues
take our hit at low tide
lay on the sand with me
high tide will dispose of the evidence
after slumber takes its hold of us
and we take our leave of this
waves of the sea
and the sands of the earth
will tear our bodies to shreads
until we become again what we once were
as it should be
ashes to ashes
void to void
we knew we'd see ourselves to the other side
just took patience
and diligence
just one more blast into the veins
one more hole burned in your back
from the inside out
just one more glance of what...
