Been awhile
I spoke to you today, first time in a bit
didn't know what to say except I miss it,
I miss our talks, our laughs, our prayers,
the things nobody else shares.
I could use an I love you or I'm proud
the silence in your house has been so loud,
I keep hoping you'll be in your chair
but when I come home, you're never there.
I didn't have an elegant speech prepared
but I wanted to make my current pain shared
with the woman who kept me alive
and gave me reasons to survive,
the one who saw past my self hate
and listened to my talks no...

Tomorrow will kill me
The life I led, or rather used to lead
no longer brings me joy or peace,
it would seem that the simple deed,
the one I thought would give release,
has instead chained me to my bed,
confining me to the hell in my head
forever tormented by the words I need to hear
and the ones I long to say
turning my soul black with fear
forcing my heart to shatter and decay
now, I face me alone and unarmed
while you seemingly remain unalarmed
as I sit, unable to cry anymore
as the world passes by and leaves me behind
if there's a way out,...

The box and the Sun
The box does not know
of it's permanent lands of shadow
caught deep inside, where light cannot go
yet, the box is simply content though
while the Sun dies daily
giving off light and shadows so gayly
chasing it's own death every single day
just to search for the lost glory stolen away.
The box does not know of glory or shine
but it seems to live just fine
while the sun rises again and again
to falter under it's own hubris not at all thin
yet when the box is opened at last
it accepts the warmth the sun does cast

Some people will always cover up
their pain with a filled cup
while others still
will eat well past their fill
never knowing the danger they are in
by consuming their sin
neither does impress or make jealous
one who lives life so zealous
rather they are ill equipped

Neo and the backdoor bandits
Let me tell you this story of mine
about a friend so fine
he dodged multiple bullets in his day
only to find his last one had a sneaky way
just waiting for him to slip
and let the backdoor bandits get a grip
now it seems, sad as it may be,
that the backdoor bandits are not so crazy
with their running the place
as the smile never left my friend's face,
maybe he dodged another or not
only time will tell how many bandits he fought
to win his brief time
resting from dodging the light of lime.

Hanging in the dark
waiting for just a tiny spark
old habits you hung up
waiting for a possible follow-up
you said winter was done
but how quickly you gave it a rerun
falling into the same ways
that you said were the past days
I now see my decision was tough but right
as your secret desires return to the light.

Gifts
Gifts represent the bane of my existence
having lived life with so much resistance
forced to learn the unfortunate fact
that gifts require a payback
by family that so desperately wanted piety
in their gift giving ability
so now I carry this ugly scar on my brain
that accepting gifts will bring me pain
but there seems to be a light at the end
learning something from a very close friend
that maybe the gifts come condition free
and that they just want to make me happy
so with a hesitant smile and grateful heart

When the path is no longer clear
when the trees whisper in forgotten tongues

Raven haired beauty
Black, shimmering surface
always flying with purpose
my dark, hoarse, throaty call
calls to the gods of the old hall
when you see me fly, most call it good luck
but for my prey, it's too late to duck
you'll be amazed at my size
when you see the majestic beauty in my eyes
and the large shadow I cast
I am the symbol of the future and the past
some have used me for their teams
others for hopes in their dying day's dreams
but no matter what you have heard
I am the king amongst the birds.

Anchors, weights, and other emotions
Drowning, the cold sea overtaking,
like a cruel and evil king
the waves rushing to keep me from surfacing
as is the way of war, always facing
so into his cold and unfeeling hands I go
never sure if I will return or remain below
but I must try, must fight to live
for this tyrant of the world will not forgive.

That time of the year again
fans cheering, playing to win
I settle in to my suit
waiting for the kick to boot
the poor pig down my field
with each crunch the crowd is thrilled
as their Emperor like blood lust is sated
this is the moment long awaited for
to see my boys fighting to score
yes, at long last glory season has come
time for the competition to come get some
so as my doors open after forever
I know this will be the best season ever
