Here are the results for Round Two! The competition was tough overall with the judges making a special point that the standard of the poetry in Group 1 was very high, making a final decision difficult and the tight scores reflect this. Unfortunately, this round is brutal with only two poets from each group advancing to Round Three.

Thank you to the poets RSaba, Lord Viddax, SeekingKate, MadameLavender, David_Macleod and uma. I think each one of you shook things up in the comp at various stages, it's been great reading your entries and I'm stoked you all took part in the comp.

Round Three - Challenge 1

Write a poem of any length and style based on the elements that have been assigned to your group. You'll notice this round that the genre element is Miscellaneous Poems for both groups. You must write the poem in a genre that does not fit the DUP standard categories. [Please remember to nominate your chosen genre at the top of the poem]. Similar to the last round, the location is again a specific place within a foreign country, which is also accompanied by a short video to set the scene. You don't have to name the specific location in your poem, but it has to be clear enough for the reader to know where the poem is set. How you weave the elements into your poem is up to your creativity.

What no sex, suicide or drugs this time?

I guess I could write a metaphorical piece comparing the challenge of moving over a frozen tundra and the kind of snow this guy moves ...

so.....
A) it has to be (or can be) the DU standard miscellaneous, or
B) we have to nominate a made-up category that isn't in the DU standard categories, including miscellaneous?

because that second option could be exceedingly tricky.

(oh, and thank you, judges.)
(i loved loads of round 2's entries!)

Congrats to all those moving to the next round! 'twas a fun comp, and sort of worked out well that I'm out--no time to write this week with work, making the rounds to check on my students, and a million appointments!

Now that you said exceedingly tricky, I'm going to have to go with B... Google will uncover a list of options and there are other genres outside of poetry that could be ripped off and relabelled as a poetry category for the purpose of the challenge... you'll need to think creatively.

Remember you [I'm talking to HHMCameron] need to replace "Miscelaneous Poem" at the top of the poem with the genre you've chosen.

Oh thank the Muses and Gods, I can relax now: no need to write in order to compete with utterly terrifying and brilliant pieces with themes I cannot do justice to convey.
Though I thoroughly enjoyed this. It was nice just taking part.

Congratulations to Jestalessa, LobodeSanPedro, Atakti, HHMCameron, JohnRot, and lepperochan.

Now the interesting bets can be made and the wagers placed....

Forums are timed with your own local time, Five wives. so, if for example a 12 hour warning was given at 12:00 your time then the comp would end at 0:00 your time

I'm posting this at 13:07 my time, it should show up on your pc/ phone/ laptop in your local time

..simples :)'
