Roth-ism
I don’t know if this story will have any legs to it when it comes to an underlying meaning, like I usually strive for. Sometimes I need to dial things back or I’ll go crazy writing about the state of the world. It needs to be fun, something to lighten the mood. Like cracking a joke can sometimes relieve tension. You follow?
I would tell a joke, but all of mine are dirty and my humor might be to crude for some. So I’ll travel the safer road and not risk offending anyone.
If you’ve been following any of my stories, you know I once was in a couple of...

In Too Deep
Kursk(2018)
Too deep to go back
Down below the sea swimming with the
Fish I’ve never seen I must be in the deep
They look at us like we don’t belong here
But we’re in too deep to go back the
Pressure reading seems to be going super high
He reports they say the temp can rise a little bit
We’re in the missile bay surrounded by
Bombs that will blow up the Ocean
I say a prayer my buddy says I don’t believe in God
Temps rise a bomb goes off we torpedoed our own sub

Road Trip (Part Three)
Entering the mouth of the city, blinding lights invading our eyes, as we exit off the pitch black interstate. My brother pulls into the Liquor Barn parking lot bringing the Oldsmobile to a stop right at the entryway. Cigarette smoke pools around the headliner inside the car, as we make our way towards the entrance.
The three of us enter the store while my brother waits outside like a getaway driver. Ever notice when you’ve been drinking and have to interact with the public that you do your damndest to appear sober. Even though there is no way to camouflage that fact...

Going Dutch
seem to be reminiscing alot of late. today about the 14 schools i went to, in the space of just 11 years, the first two in Dutch (my favourite, the second Dutch school, i was teachers pet. i know this, as she kept me in a cage at the back of the class!) in reality, i was invited to her house. she was widowed, her husband had been in the Dutch Resistance during WWII, and died at the ands of the Nazi's. she taught me how she made her own butter, and was generally a really lovely woman, that i desperately hoped would adopt me, anything to get away from my family! her name was Mrs Paul...

Road Trip (Part Two)
We arrive at my work buddies house to retrieve the new guy’s car. This quiet subdivision was being invaded by a pack of musicians, three of which are feeling no pain. I’m talking to my songwriting friend while he’s putting something in his trunk. New guy is getting the beer out of his car’s trunk while talking to my brother.
Right as my friend is closing his trunk, we hear this commotion of laughing and horsing around that’s getting louder. We turn around in time to be treated to what resembles a wrestling match, or should I say the end of one.
My brother has...

How many chemicals can you pronounce that are in your foods?
Hey!
Ever read the ingredients in processed foods sold in the US? It's a laundry list of additives that you probably can't spell, let alone pronounce.
Look at that same item that's being sold in Europe, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, or any other Industrialized country on planet Earth. None of those long, complex words are nowhere to be found in their ingredients.
You may ask yourself, but why...
Well the reason is that the food industry has a very strong lobbying presence in the United States. A lot of times those voices are really heard, and they...

Road Trip (Part One)
If you’ve read my work you’re getting to know me pretty well. I don’t runaway from accountability when it comes to my actions. I still mess up everyday, just on a way smaller scale. None of us are perfect that’s what makes us who we are. But some of the decisions I made, were on impulse and in poor judgement on my part.
I’ve lived the rockstar lifestyle, I’m an alcoholic because of it, which is fair I guess. It was Russian Roulette, constantly putting myself and others at risk. I wasn’t always the ringleader though, when you get a group of musicians together it’s bound to get...

I might have a crush on my best friend.
I've known them for a fat chunk of years now.
A long time ago, we agreed that we didn't have feelings for each other, despite, getting close unexpectedly. Things...I guess, can change a bit after enough time has passed.
But I'm gonna have to dig a little into my feelings first before I do anything rash.
It could just me projecting onto someone because I feel lonely.
And, I want to get into a relationship because I like someone, not just cause I feel lonely, right?

Life Moves In Circles
For those who follow my, Backstage show on YouTube a new episode is up. The link is on my speakeasy here at DU if interested. I’m trying to navigate the waters of being on YouTube, takes some getting used to.
There’s also some chatter through the grapevine about a possible poetry album. Now this is not definite yet, it’s in the works. Mainly because my idea is to read poetry over music composed by a longtime brother of mine. And since he lives many miles away, we’re going to have to do this through technology. So we got logistics to work out, it would seem.

Own It
Own it. Omg. I’m becoming a motivational speaker. What is about me that cares so much about being the best me I can be. Also did I just use “Omg”, what the hell is happening to me. That is something I never thought I’d do, this is what using “lol” leads too. I’m not feeling very analog all the sudden.
In all seriousness, folks. Every time I write in prose form, I know I’m gonna be telling some stories. Which is exciting because the possibilities are endless. I never thought I’d like the freedom this form of writing gives you. Why don’t I do this all the time?? Because it...
