There's home; the blue marble
We're so lucky to know,
From afar and serene
Like the void all around.

And who are we, we ask
Didn't we used to know,
Before we could read
And had words we could see.

Before great walls were built,
And few had many more
Take crude sticks to our necks
To order us bow down,
Grovel at their scrotums
These self-proclaimed men.

But wait.  Didn't we know
Who we were all along,
Before we were crowded
And corralled,
The genocide of
Generation
By...

Considering the future tense
UPhones, high speed selections
Drone deliveries to the door
Visits from a hologram whore
But Big Sister watching me
Her slogans nagging on a daily basis
Backed by closed circuit scrutiny
And schemes issued through a private server
All this, and too much more
Only to be absorbed in increments
Dosages calculated and monitored
To heal a deep-fried brain
A slow and ridiculous process
Far too much dystopian nonsense
Now just waiting for Serenity
Should be here directly
Her smile and touch a marvel
All....

Years ago
I was twelve or so
Staring out my bedroom window
Fascinated by the sight
Red darts - flashing light,
I could not get much sleep that night.
 
A meteor shower raged outside
But there was something else
That caught my eye -
Through the tall trees I spotted
Two blazing red planets, sharing a single ring.
 
Thinking it a trick of light
I shut my eyes and held them tight.
But when I looked back to the sky
There it was, still shining bright.
