Image for the poem Who

Who

There's home; the blue marble
We're so lucky to know,
From afar and serene
Like the void all around.

And who are we, we ask
Didn't we used to know,
Before we could read
And had words we could see.

Before great walls were built,
And few had many more
Take crude sticks to our necks
To order us bow down,
Grovel at their scrotums
These self-proclaimed men.

But wait.  Didn't we know
Who we were all along,
Before we were crowded
And corralled,
The genocide of
Generation
By generation.

But more of us came,
A clueless flock
Or so we were told,
While styrofoam cups
Were passed all around,
We all drank the poison
From reticent lips
Of reticent minds.

Pretending
To do the right thing
By these little men,
Once again.

But by them being small,
What did that make us?

In the name of their god,
Not ours they defiled
Slashing and burning,
Held back by their dams
And pipelines,
And the free air was taxed,
Summarily exiled.

Creating new light
Their mushroom fire lord,
And called it the sun
Like none that we knew,
And the killings continued
Of the faceless,
Because we were told;

'Your god has no patience
With heathen like you,
You'll only be cleansed
To do what we - I - say
To follow - me - mindlessly
And you'll learn what, and
Who you are
Before you're sheared
Then slaughtered
By each other's hand,
Because I can't be bothered
To be soiled by the masses
For I washed my hands
Of you
A long time ago,
But you still keep producing
Multiplying, it's sickening,
Like your kind needs to be
Around
When all it does
Is give me a reason
To think of more ways
To fill my coffers with ore
And put you to death
Without lifting a finger!'

Our kind.

And who are we, we ask
Didn't we used to know,
Before we could read
When the scribes were all killed.

There's home; the blue marble
We're so lucky to be,
From afar and serene
Like the void all around.
