This Confession of Mine
There's something people don't know about me
A secret I kept so close to my chest that its inside it
I had just turned 22 when I realized I was pregnant
I didn't know what to do when it happened
I just... Closed my eyes and ignored it
Honestly being nauseous wasn't new to me
I figured I would make an appointment to... Fix it... Eventually
But I was on the fence about it through it all
Id missed my period not once or twice but three times
Three months pregnant and my relationship was crumbling before me
No one knew what was going on with me ...

We will never escape the pain of mothers
There's a rocking chair I pull up to the window
A purple pillow suspended on a metal frame
My mind just goes blank as I watch
The raindrops play the leaves like a piano
My left arm hurts from where they took my blood this morning
Alive out of spite printed on my shirt over my chest
My foot proped up against the wall rocking me
I ponder past lives and the sin I could have carried over
What genetic horrors the line of mothers that created me experienced
A series of dominos that built this body like this

I'm not an incubator
My bones melt into the bed sheets
I can’t move without screaming on the inside
Today is a bad day
I feel you moving against the home
I’ve built around you
sometimes I smile
sometimes I can’t sleep with the pain
of your tiny limbs pressing into my walls
with a stubbornness I can’t coerce
into something more sleep worthy
My body is not kind to me on days like these
and I wonder if I am too old for this
Dishes piled high by the sink
we live on salads and...
