Dear, my
Deer in the headlights
startled by this deep desire…
Did my fire
Frighten you away
Into thick forests
Where you stay
& hide your gentle light
from my sight?
I am no mountain cougar
Crouching in your tracks
To pounce
& wreck your regal gait.
I am the tracks you left behind
I am the flower in the wood
I am the cloud drifting above
I am the falling drops of rain,
Shedding tears for your lost love
I am the babbling brook
Beckoning you:
come & rest & drink

Housed on unsteady grounds
Shy on the attempt to bring up sharing space
Knew it’d be possible based on the feel
Came in reality & realized it wouldn’t be
caked
Understood early the table talks would be often to clear air
The perfect plan didn’t include taking accountability but gripping responsibility
Run it right & there’ll be help to it continue but run it the opposite & it may run over you
(Go steady when feeling the blues)

Washing the sheets of the ghosts in this madhouse
In the shadows of regret I walk.
Carrying the heavy load of my choices.
Echoes of decisions whisper in my mind...
Bathing me in yellow flowers with every step
like a bitter memory.
Disappointment as a constant specter.
Black wings that surround the heart...
Smothering the light with a veil of sadness.
Bath you in yellow flowers without time
for the desire to change that consumes me.
If I could go back in time and rewrite history...

I don’t know as the day begins anew
Can’t remember when I started to forget
Cobwebs on my brain
Try to brush them off

Say to myself check it out
Get on my phone to look it up
